I swear some people on this board want Jalen to fail so they can be proven right.

People still use PER? What is this, 2012?

if Jalen Green doesn’t show much improvement in year 2, and still sucks in year 3, then bust talk will be valid, but until then, stfu

interesting post: how a few words can show both wildest imagination (JG can start shooting like curry) AND lack of imagination (that that’s the only path to be a starter)!

PER is fine for what it is. The “PER is useless” take is way overblown, in my opinion.

As single number summary statistics go, it’s still decent. If you have a single digit PER AND your defense sucks, you’re almost certainly not helping your team win. That said, most lottery picks aren’t helping their team win in the first half of their rookie year.

The fact that all of his team mates play better when he isn't on the floor, against better competition, is going to tank his RAPTOR, even if he starts filling up the box score later in the season.

    Hope he gets it together.

I'm beginning to feel like JG is one of the most gifted athletes in the Rockets roster but his basketball awareness is super raw. He's playing like a rookiest rookie. A lot of players who became busts are like that. They never grew up. I hope he can be better next year. If not then he's a bust.

For what it's worth @JCDenton is right in that he's not a talent scout, based on threads like these.

I always thought Denton was a professional scout. Glad we got this out the way

If he is then he surely didn't work for Phoenix back in 2015.

"Mr. Sarver I have bad news. Based on my data and scouting prowess, I have to say that Devin is projected to be a complete bust. He's playing about 28 minutes a night in his first year in the league and his PER is *gasp* below 12. I say we cut our losses now"

Why be patient when you can try to look "smart"/"right" every time a 19 year old rookie has a bad game? Takes massive testicles to predict or call out a rookie for being *gasp* a rookie.

This is rich coming from you. It wasn't too long ago when you laughed at people posting RAPTOR metrics

The Mobley crowd has already been proven right. Adding further failure wouldn't really solidify their claims.

All that's left to do is cheer on our players and hope Tilman sells the team before the next draft.

Imagine believing you've been proven right about a draft selection of 19 year olds half way through their rookie seasons.

Here's a hint of advice. No one knows either of their career projections until they are in their early 20s. It takes a solid few years to determine this especially because it takes offseasons to understand what their work ethic is and how much they improve off-season to off-season.

So many examples of rookies playing exceptionally well their rookie years and then they stagnate with progression. Ben Simmons is a prime example. And so many examples of players with poor rookie campaigns progressing season to season at a fast rate and being a totally different player from their rookie year.
