There is nothing I hate more than waking up in the morning. Fortunately, I work with kids as a mental health counselor at a psych hospital on the 3pm-11:30pm shift. I go to sleep around 4-5am and get up around noon. Not only do I love my job to the extent that I actually look forward to going to work, but it suits my personal habits perfectly. Oh, and I couldn't tell you the last time I had to sit in traffic. Life is good.
I have the same problem. I can't sleep well on Sunday nights. I force myself to the bed by 12am but will stay awake until 3-am. From there until 6am I'll be having wierd dreams, waking up and worry about all the things that I haven't done or supposed to do.
The older I get the more of a morning person I've become. Maybe since I've left the US I've started keeping saner hours. There are so many distractions- of various sorts- in Houston that I don't have here in New Zealand. In grad school my hours were completely upside down. I had a job from 10pm to 7am, slept until noon, did a couple of hours of classes, or reading and had a few socialising hours. I tended to sleep 20+ hours on the weekend to catch up. Glad I don't have to do that anymore.
The problem that I have is with my contact lenses... I swear that things would be so much better if I could take a nap in the middle of the day. But then my lenses dry and the rest of the day is ruined. I also can't put them in unless my eyes have had a certain amount of rest which makes early morning extra annoying...
