He made up the name when he wanted to post something. (I don't know why he doesn't get his own username.) I thought it was funny so I stuck with it.

damn, this part (before the caffeine/speed stuff) pretty much is exactly how i work. i'm sure my body clock is longer than 24 hours. if i get 8 hours of sleep, going to bed within 16 hours is usually quite tough. now, usually there is school or other things to make me get up so i don't have to worry about this, but in the summer. the only thing that limits me is the sun coming up. i think i naturally stay up later and later until i start staying up until dawn. since i cannot stand the sun shining in the window, i eventually settle into sleeping right before dawn, but it's still tough.

my biggest problem is when i wanna wake up is determined by when i go to sleep but when i wanna go to sleep is not determined by when i wake up. i want lots of sleep if i stay up a long time, but not getting sleep doesn't mean i'll go to bed early. i can easily stay up 20 hours off 4 hours of sleep. it sucks.

it's amazing how opposite my dad and i are. when i'm home during the summer, rare is the morning we don't cross paths as he's waking up at 5 and i'm just going to sleep. i can probably count on one hand the number of times i've been to sleep before 4 am in the last 2 months.

i like sleeping and i like staying up, which makes me not a morning person.

having said all that, when i have to get up, i have relatively little problem doing so. i have a 9:30 class on TTH and a 10 class on MWF this semester and i'm routinely getting 4 hours of sleep and yet i have no problem getting up each morning. i manage to get myself in functioning order by the time i'm out the door and in the car. i figure i could stay in zombie mode but i don't wanna die while driving.

oh, and i should add i've currently been up 23 straight hours as i type this. pulled a little all-nighter with some homework combined with waking up at 3 in the afternoon yesterday.

I woke up at 4:45 AM this morning to catch the Delta Shuttle from Boston to La Guardia. Just had to mention it in this thread. I'm starting to get tired.

Sorry, but I have the weirdest sleeping patterns on this board.

You guys should try being a shift worker for about 6 months. It takes that long before your body begins to rebel. Then for another 6 months, I never know what time of day it is.

After 6 years of it, I now can sleep or be awake whenever I need to be. Here is my schedule...I work 4 am till 4 pm, or 4 pm till 4 am.

4 night shifts, 3 days off, 3 day shifts, 1 day off, 3 night shifts, 3 days off, 4 day shifts, 7 days off...rinse and repeat.

My body knows what set I am heading into, and will get sleepy accordingly. BUT...overtime is a b****. It throws the whole rhythm off.

    sleep.. blah who needs it.

Actually for whatever reason I function on little sleep these days... just can't make myself go to bed too early.. college life should involve much more sleeping than I do

    ima.. good point..

I know as soon as I go to sleep in a class though.. the prof will call on me ...

I do spend a lot of those early classes.. in a daze though. just looking at whatever graphs etc are on the board...

Been going to sleep around 3am or so.. somehow ended up with 8am class.. but have been up in time for it everyday so far...

of course now that I post this I'll probably oversleep my 8am test on Wednesday!

Well, I tend to be in the Rockets chat and I go to work the next day. You can guess what that means about my sleeping rhythm...

I have that problem too. Though it could be because I get the Monday Morning Blues on Sunday afternoon. I can't get to sleep on Sunday night for thinking about Monday morning.

Meh... the human body can adjust to any schedule. Just make sure you are getting around 8 hours of sleep per night and it's all good.

10 years active duty in the military and two years at a PM (afternoon) paper which means you have to get up early still haven't changed the fact I am one grumpy, clumsy, zombie in the morning. Even coffee and a shower does little to snap me out of my funk. I naturally get up around 10 AM. Thank goodness for my present job. On a typical weekday, four days out of the week, I go to the Falcons facility around 2 pm, listen to the press conference, go the press room and send my story to the wire and then go do my radio show.
Sundays I get down to the GA Dome around 12 pm and get home around 4 pm. It's the ultimate job for someone who naturally comes to life around 10 AM.

Well then, it seems your problem has less to do with the actual mornings than it does with time spent in the sack.

I've been getting up at 7:30 most mornings, so I try to be in bed by 11:30-12. What's the point of staying up super late if it just causes you to be groggy the next morning?

    droxford has the right idea.
