I hope u are kidding . . JVG is *as* arrogant as Stern
NEW RULE: No Shots in the leave until 4 passes have been made.
NEW RULE: Players must look to the coach for every play. If a play runs a play without the coach callling it thens aid player is suspected for 2 games.

so maybe he should be fixing games to keep teams nobody cares about from competing for the title?

    :) probably not!

or he should be working to help people care about these teams. including one that employs the poster boy of the new NBA.

Well the article is mostly talking about if this thing is bigger than one rogue official it is Stern's problem. Further, this did not come out of the blue - as Simmons said in his article most people's first thought was "who?" and not "I can't believe it!". Additionally, the article mentions other problems in Donaghy's past. Why keep a guy around with such problems when he is not even that great of an official. And Stern definitely covered up MJ's notorious betting issues.

David Stern is having a trouble to keep his job now, then the NBA is in a better position. He will lose his control in some ways. I will see improvement in the NBA games in every aspects.

Definitely agree that NBA should keep track of Ref blown calls and suspend them when they rack up too many points, just like players rack up points for Technical fouls. If we can see the player stats including fouls and techs, we should be told who is racking up lots of blown calls and let them sit for a few games, etc. If you allow something to go on with no consequences then what happens? You get more of it. Kinda like having a law against illegal immigration that is enforced less than 1% of the time - you get more illegal immigrants.

If a ref knows he can hammer even Tim Duncan and have no consequences then guess what? he is gonna do it. So if you want Yao and Shaq and Tmac reffed fairly, then squawk about consequences for refs who consistently miss blatant calls. Squawk about Bruce Bowen never being suspended. How many extra steps did MJ get on a regular basis?

And yes, Stern ignored or perhaps he covered up? the MJ gambling scandal bigtime. Lots of side stories to dig up in that graveyard, including xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx My own gut feel is that MJ's retirement was an agreement between the NBA and MJ with no details ever to be released. Spare the NBA the bad publicity? Don't kill the goose that is laying the golden eggs.

I didn't really read the article, or the post, but how the hell is his job on the line?

How the hell is this David Sterns fault?

Was there anything for him to do to prevent something like this?

Was he a bad commish when refs were cashing in their first class tickets?

He is doing fine as commish.

God gave us humans the power of free will, He hopes that we will find a away to him as our Saviour! Well David Stern is only the head of the NBA and as a human he does a great job [overpaid, as are most people in professional Basketball]. He is not going to cover anything up and will take more steps to protect the NBA from bad refs. Stern has nothing to do with the temptations of evil, each human makes his/hers own mind up to do the right or wrong thing. This bad Ref. did this on his own mind set and he got caught and should be no reason to effect the leadership of David Stern and the NBA!

Stern needs to go. As someone already mentioned, this happened on his watch. The same watch that saw him bully (with fines) any player or coach who questioned the quality of the officiating. He also belittled any reporter who brought the subject up. When you strut around claiming to be perfect you deserve everything you get when you are exposed as a fraud.

Seriously, the guy spent too much time on dress codes and sh*tty, new basketballs to do what was important...protect the integrity of the game.

I can't wait to see how this comes out after the NBA releases the results of their investigation. I"m betting this goes far deeper than one official.

Globalism was what brought basketball to the international world. Saying Stern made basketball global is like Al Gore saying he created the internet.

My problem with Stern is that he has become to arrogant and condescending since being commissioner. He think's he's god's gift and he has done terrible interviews talking down to the interviewer instead of giving good, professional answers.

Why was globalism so picky that it left MLB and the NFL behind?

Because those two sports are boring and suck. Well the NFL is boring but doesn't really suck.

Much cheaper to play soccer or basketball than it is to play baseball or football.
