I agee that logically, China has no reason to go to war, but my friends, logic often fails. One of the problems is that every military gets ancy, including ours, they crave war. And often times, they will sell a story to make it happen. Leaders listen, and stupidity ensues. Even in the U.S. we have examples like the weapons of mass destruction plot. We wanted to believe it, and the military sold it to us, and away we go. Often times the military relies on probability, and if leadership cannot measure it properly, bad things happen. To think that China will simply make the logical decision, the smart decision, is defied by history. It is not that simple.
I think there's a different between us invading some poor little desert country vs. two global economies throwing nukes at each other. A full scale war won't happen.
Not objective but their dictator looks like a complete dickcheese. The guy walking around you would probably snicker at because he was so goofy. Always a bad idea to have so much power in the hands of people like that.
China won't back NK if they make the first move. Kim Jong-un has not paid his respects to China since taking office. This is a huge sign of disrespect and it seems he is breaking from the working relationship that his father and grandfather helped build up. Also, China does not want millions of NK refugees fleeing into their backyard.
Some of you need to read up this issue a LOT more. This is nothing but posturing. It happens every time South Korea elects a new leader, every year we have the "war games", and fatty McMidget over there wants them to stop these joint military training exercises like they were during Clinton's terms in office. They barely have scud type missile's that can reach Japan, Guam and even South Korea. Their long range is non existent (It cans shoot up, up, up though, into space), and thier medium range missiles are non reliable at hitting any given target. They also have not even figured out how to put a nuclear warhead small enough for intercontinental precision, and they do not even posses the correct type of nuclear warhead to even mount on one. Given, if a war were to break out they say within an hour Seoul could be hit by over 500,000 rounds of ammunition in about an hour, but a war would not last long. Their military does not have the fuel supplies to last more than a few weeks. Their soldiers do not even have enough FOOD to last months in battle. They also know they would pretty much be wiped out in a matter of hours if they even elected to launch a nuke at any Pacific country. I doubt fatty wants war that bad. As for China, why in the world would they want to back such an obsolete nation? Yes, it's a trade partner but nothing on par with the US. If they were to get involved, which they won't, the whole world economy would nose dive right when their economy is pushing them to the top of global map. Another thing with China, does anyone even know that they JUST built their first aircraft carrier and are still having trouble with the operations and are having just as much trouble training pilots to properly take off and land on the damn thing? Even their ICBM's are said to be out dated and in major need of repair. Most are inoperable. The sky is not falling, this is just more posturing from Fatty Kim to try and get the US and other countries to the table, ask for more aid which we suspended, and little fatty is also trying to show his "military" he's in charge with strength, even though he's running through high ranking commanders like he would a bag of Cheeto's. He's also throwing a tantrum since one of the terms of the new round of sanctions prohibited him from receiving his fine taste in expensive cars, liquor, anything to do with his high standards of living while 75% of his country is starving. The country is so ass backwards, even China knows this and they're scared to death of a massive flood of NK refugees into their country. They would shoot on contact to keep this from happening. Relax. There are no Russian subs missing (no idea where that came from), Russia and China both agreed to tighten sanctions on the country, one of the first times both have agreed with the rest of the world, so they are also fed up with the new regime. Both want this to calm down as they do not want more US presence on their side of the world.
Haha! Wouldn't that be hilarious! They send up a nuke and it just falls down and explodes in their own country.
World War II (and World War I) were extremely rare circumstances in the world of foreign affairs. This isn't Hitler or Stalin rapidly expanding with large armies, this isn't a third world war between the soviets and the us, this is a third world country posturing, and we're calling their bluff.
Well thank you captain obvious. Point is, there have been plenty of conflicts in the past that got way out of hand. Hell, we went into Iraq because we (and by we, I mean the President) thought they had WMDs... Iraq didn't even have to say they approved a nuclear strike on us to go over there. But then again, they got a bunch of oil, so it's different.
I don't think NK can handle the most advanced and largest military industrial complex in human history. NK could be toppled just by the millions of registered gun owners and hunters in the US. It's so ridiculous that I wouldn't be surprised if we were secretly funding and instructing NK on what to do just to keep American citizens scared and in line with our astrofreakingnomical defense budget since Irag and Afghanistan is winding down. Got to have that boogey man.
All this provocation has definitely gotten the attention of the Pentagon... If the North Koreans just want to show that they can make the US bleed...Im quite sure that other countries in the world will get more emboldened to attack the US(not necessarily through direct warfare, but these kinda of provocations)...ie Iran, Venezuela... The North Koreans know that if they ever did anything to US soil(extremely unlikely), that the US would destroy the country...however their emboldened behavior must have gotten further backing from someone else...
