I agree with the option of laying the cards on the table with the PRC. They don't really mind N Korea stirring things up because they don't feel threatened. In fact it seems they are using N Korea as they always have to distract and occupy Japan and the US. I figure we should seriously tell the Japanese we are contemplating pulling out, and that we (as Krauthammer suggests) would support their proliferation, and also holds talks with Taiwan, and support their proliferation, unless the PRC sticks their boot up N Koreas ass. Basically we would be saying to N Korea and the PRC, fine, if you want us (the US) out of East Asia, ok. But before we go we will give those who have previously depended on our security assurances the ability to defend themselves from outside aggression. As I said early on in the other north korea thread, the PRC wants to keep Japan denuclearized a lot more than they want to see N Korea tweak us on the nose.
Also, I think that Cohen hits on an important point. This is not a regime that wants to join the world community. This is a dictatorship that is using the nuclear card to get a free ride from those its threatening to maintain its own internal grip on the country.
i always like the idea that american support a nuclear japan , i hope they do that too! just wonder what all the asian countries will do when they see the american support a nuclear japan , lol!
Uh, what will they do? And what 'Asian' countries are you talking about? I believe it was you that said there was nothing wrong with China exporting nuclear technology to N Korea, Pakistan, and Iran, because they were 'allies.' So what is wrong with the US exporting nuclear technology to our 'allies?'
is not wrong that why i like it ! first south korean n taiwan dunt want any nuclear weapoons! second any shipping ofany nuclear weappon to taiwan will be worse than what happan ussr shiiping to cuba back then!! thirdly american supporting a country(japan) ,a country not too long ago a threat to whole of asia n still not admit many wrong doing they did to other asian in ww2 include us allies south korean will tell u that they dont want a nuclear japan! so usa supporting a nuclear japan will win a lot of support from asian countries , lol.
The only reason S Korea, Taiwan, and Japan are not ALREADY nuclearized is because they had the protection of the US nuclear umbrella and US conventional forces. If we withdrawl they will go nuclear. Simple as that. And what 'Asian' countries are you talking about? At the point we withdrawl from East Asia, who gives a **** what the PRC thinks about it. The rest of East Asia is irrelevant. We would neither need nor ask for 'asian countries' support on the issue. And again I am wondering WHO you are talking about when you say 'asian countries.'
sorry u are wrong again the reason why south korea n taiwan is not nuclearized is becuz they dunt want nuclear weapoons not becuz they are under the umbrella of us nuclear protection ! asian countries even south korean will not want to see a nuclear japan not jsut china but all of the countries in asia will not want to see a nuclear japan !!!! yes u dont need the support from asian countires to do that but if the american support a nuclear japan then the asians wil see the american did it for thier interest not the asians !!! please tell me which country in asia want a nuclear japan , lol!!
You really are a waste of time. But I will attempt to blunt your barrage of stupidity one more time... Taiwan: From the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists..."From time to time, officials in Taiwan admit they once had a nuclear weapons program, but they have rarely discussed details. Instead, they enjoy the widespread perception that Taiwan is a "virtual proliferant"-a state that could make nuclear weapons quickly if the need should arise. Taiwan's talk of nuclear weapons rises and falls with moments of heightened tension. In July 1995, right after China test-fired missiles into nearby waters, President Lee Teng-hui told the national assembly: "We should re-study the question [of nuclear weapons] from a long-term point of view."1 He added: "Everyone knows we had had the plan before." But a few days later, Lee turned down the heat, saying that Taiwan "has the ability to develop nuclear weapons, but will definitely not" develop them.2 A nuclear-armed Taiwan facing a nuclear-armed China would be a frightening prospect. Yet Taiwan today has no nuclear weapons and seems to have no plans to develop them-but only because the United States and the International Atomic Energy Agency (iaea) pushed Taiwan hard, particularly in the mid-1970s. Fortunately, Taiwan did not dig in its heels. At that time, U.S. intelligence agencies considered Taiwan a likely proliferant. But tough international scrutiny, spearheaded by the United States, led to the most controversial parts of Taiwan's secret nuclear program being cut back. When Taiwan did not abandon its nuclear ambitions altogether, another effort was stopped in the late 1980s. Parts of the story, related here, have never before been revealed. To build or not to build: It is not hard to understand why some factions in the government always wanted nuclear weapons. Taiwan was probably attracted at first by the prestige that possessing nuclear explosives or weapons confers. In addition, Taiwan had an archenemy across the Strait-and, as a Pentagon analysis in the early 1980s concluded: "Despite public and private assurances that it does not intend to build nuclear weapons, many officials at high levels on Taiwan continue to believe that a nuclear capability will provide [Taiwan] with an independent deterrent in the event security arrangements with the United States are unsatisfactory."3 In addition, your ignorance on the subject is laughable. Taiwan's nuclear program has been so well publicized that you obviously just don't get it. Besides, considering that S Korea and Taiwan have only recently become democracies, the 'general public's opinion' on the issue, which is what I am assuming you are alluding to, was completely irrelevant of the decision whether or not to pursue nuclear weapons. US withdrawal (dimsie) would cause Japanese nuclearization: "As the cold war came to an end, some Japanese leaders appeared to give serious consideration to ending the alliance with the United States and to developing an independent Japanese role in Asia, including the development of an independent nuclear capability.28 A consensus rejecting this option has now reemerged in Japan. However, Japan leaders will still carefully assess the international situation, including China's relations with Japan and with the United States, in particular. A close Sino-American relation could lead Japan to question the continued credibility of U.S. security guarantees against China. Alternatively, a withdrawal of U.S. power from Asia, coupled with the continuing growth of Chinese military (including nuclear) capability, could have the same result." So really the US would not even have to proactively support Japanese nuclearization. We could simply, as you propose with your rampant anti-Americanism, withdrawal. I guess you think that would be better for Asia. Oh, lol. Well, absent US engagement in the region, uh, Japan for one. Taiwan more than likely fears the PRC more than Japan as well. S. Korea's stance is also likely to change. Either they would need to proliferate to protect themselves from a nuclearized Japan, or from a nuclearized N Korea. Sounds like a fun senario, right, lolfatfatcow!!!
What? Main Entry: 1drawl Pronunciation: 'drol Function: verb Etymology: probably frequentative of draw Date: 1598 intransitive senses : to speak slowly with vowels greatly prolonged transitive senses : to utter in a slow lengthened tone Texan........drawl..... get it? What is your mind on?

lol, some 180 countries signed the treaty to declare non nuclear places! so if they want nuclear weapoons why they sign it??!! again u havent point out 1 country in asia that want a nuclear japan!! sorry taiwan is not a country , n the idea of american supporting a nuclear japan is not the interest of aisans!! why do u think the south korean will change it stance there is a poll in south korea n 93 % of south korean want a north korean neighbor n 53% of south korean dont like usa!!! also new eleceted president just said he want the american military to withdraw in 10 years!! even south koreans, american allies there is 53 % dont like american n want them to leave ,lol! when will u get it american is not welcome in many places!! even the usa withdrawal from south korea the south korean wont go nuclear as they have signed the treaty n they are againist nuclear weappon proof u are wrong again! as in taiwan there is no usa army at all (unlike skorea)so why dont they make nuclear weapoons if they are not under the protection of u.s nuclear umbrella n military presents???!!!taiwanese dont fear from mainland the use of nuclear weapoons cuz they know mainland will not use nuclear force on chinese in taiwan cuz they are the same race!!!
this is not the only reason to taiwan n south korea which i said in the above post!!! so u are wrong wrong wrong !!!what u have just post dont proof u are right on this at all!! lol now dont waste your time
this is not jsut withdrawa of amercian force in japan like you talking about this is giving full support to japan for the interest of americans !
I dated this girl in college who was drop dead beautiful. I'd never date a girl like her today, but back then I didn't know any better. She was so friggen gorgeous....and incredible in the sack. But she was totally psychotic, and her IQ couldn't have been any more than Anna Nicole Smith's. And when she got drunk........Oh my God.....was she ever a mess. Arguing with fatfatcow is like arguing with Heather when she was drunk. It has nothing to do with the language barrier. It's the underlying concept of reality they share. I don't know why you people bother.
