I still like the credits proposal the best. The worst team gets the most credits they can use to bid on players.

We're lotto protected in 2015 I believe. No worries.

In the West, they're going to need a healthy Anderson and a massive step forward on defense from Davis to manage that IMO.

It also greatly improves the odds that if the Pelicans miss the playoffs and the pick gets into the top 3 and they don't convey it to us.

Either way, there is almost no chance this is implemented for the 2015 draft.

Our pick to the Lakers is protected from the lottery next season and then the top 10 for 2016 and 17.

Nola is adding a healthy Ryan Anderson, a healthy Jrue Holiday, and Omer Asik.

Rockets lost 3 guys who were starters on the playoff team from a year before while adding a vet who has had an inconsistent career.

The Rockets were only 6 games from missing the playoffs last year.

3 starters huh? interesting. i'm sure you'll show the box scores of the portland series and technically be correct, but that's bull****. we lost 1 starter.

Now it'll be just a tank race.

Now 8 teams will be tanking for a spot in the bottom 4

How many games were we off from having the best record in the nba? Need some additional water on that half empty glass?

But this doesn't work: the worst team has the most credits, so they always get the #1 pick.

I suggested a similar idea, before this flawed credit idea came about. You have a sealed bid auction using real CAP SPACE. Each lotto team with capspace can only bid on one lotto slot. Highest bidder gets that slot. After the auction clears, losers in bids or those without capspace, who couldn't place a bid, fall into the unbid slots by order of worst record.

This gives financial responsibility a bigger role in rebuilding.
Teams without capspace will have less incentive to tank. And teams with capspace don't need to tank.

The key is: sealed bid auction and you can only bid on one slot. If you lose out on a bid, you will likely fall a spot. Only lotto teams can play.

And you actually have to spend your capspace bid in the way of a bonus to the player spread over the course of the guaranteed rookie scale years.
