Jaden Ivey and Banchero are superior scorers to Chet and future stars. I really don’t know if Chet is a cornerstone star type player but i like some of his other attributes I think are special like some handles for a big guy and able to find guys and make plays off the dribble or fast break. You might just have a solid 2 way player in Chet but not a franchise cornerstone is my feeling.
I like Murray and think he is better than Jabari. I think Jabari is limited offensively and doesn’t have the craftiness or agility of Murray. Murray is better defensively as well. He’s number 4 on my top 5.
After top 5 there’s not much in my opinion in terms of future star potential. Maybe solid contributors and role players but slim pickings.
Interesting because Ivey is the best to me but we don’t need another scoring combo guard as fun and exciting as that sounds. I like Banchero although his defensive awareness and effort is a concern to me. Chet is intriguing to me but I agree he might not be a franchise type player. Smith is very limited. Reminds me of Rashard Lewis back in the day.
I guess I don’t see it the same on Ivey. No guy entering the draft is polished as there were concerns about Morant as well. I don’t see the athletic edge you gave to Wade or Morant either as it’s minimal if any to me. One thing I agree is he may not be as natural a playmaker and be more of a scoring combo guard. To me him and Banchero could be 1B type players. Most of the people on this board are sleeping on Keegan Murray who I think is better than Smith. Very solid 2 way player. Prob 2B type but very good player.
Ivey is the freakier run jump athlete than Porter, actually very similar to Jalen Green just more physical.
Not only much better defender but Keegan is also the better offensive player. Banchero is just better playmaker.
I think this draft is pretty deep with starting and rotational type players. Especially big men. I think you can get quality and high upside guys throughout the lottery.
Murray is over 2 years older, and Banchero isn't just a couple inches taller he's got a much thiccer frame. Murray's got a lot of talent, completely dominated this year, but damn it's a little tough to get too excited about a guy who will be 22 before the season starts, (with a top 5 pick that is). That being said, I could see Murray going over Banchero/Ivey if the fit is right.
Correct. If Keegan was same age as Paolo-Jabari he would be in more conversations for top 3. Keegan is such a natural scorer and his defense is above average. And he is not exactly small at 225 lbs. FYI - Keegan only started 4 games for Iowa last season, for comparison.
Now is the time for the top 4 to try and separate themselves from each other. The upcoming players won't go too hard but I believe the Rockets should sign the player who works the hardest to overcome his limitations in order to make a big contribution to our team.
I am kind of hoping for Banchero. He just seems like a superstar to me. Would be happy with any of the top four, however. I am a terrible evaluator of talent, though. I was pro-Suggs (over Barnes) last year, and back in the 90s I thought Joe Forte would be the next Jordan.
