I've been quite poor, actually, in the past. You don't even know me. Don't make assumptions about what people do and don't know. And I still found time to vote even when I was making $800 per month and working 7am to midnight or so without a day off for weeks at a time.

Aside from the unexpected emergency cropping up there is no reason folks cannot vote. If your boss is going to give you a hard time, vote early or vote absentee. Anyone who claims that they did not have time to vote, did not MAKE time to vote.

I have to agree that there is no good reason not to vote. You don't actually have to go to the polls on election day. You can vote early or vote absentee.

My opinion (let me stress opinion) is that a lot of people don't feel that their vote means anything; hence, they don't care to incovenience themselves.

If nothing else comes out of this election, we at least have a nice civics lesson in how important each vote can be.

bobrek: In response to your earlier question, I'm not sure the specific reasons seniors vote Republican almost exclusively except to say that older people tend to be more conservative based on the way they were raised. My grandfather, for example, is a conservative right wing Christian who also happens to be a racist. No chance he votes for a Democrat.
