It IS fun to read those threads with 800 views and 3 responses. It's usually a "newbie" saying something like "ROCKET GARDS NEVER NOT PASS TO MING" followed by a smart ass remark or two. Good stuff.

Yea, man. I fly into Hobby tomorrow afternoon around 2. Jeff and Mrs. JB will be picking me up as they have graciously let me stay with them.

However, I don't know how much I will be able to participate in the events before the game since I will be with them, but I will definitely be at the game.

Lynus, I am exactly the same. I joined the board about 5 years ago now yet I am not exactly a known member of the BBS. I used to post quite a bit a few years ago, but I don't have as much time to spend on posts.... I need to know that what I'm saying isn't overly stupid!

I guess there are so many decent posters around these days that it's hard to really stand out. I know I have a hard time reading through everything, it's always so busy! So I tend to stick to reading posts from people I know when I only have a few minutes to check out the board... I guess it takes time to build yourself into a person on the BBS, as opposed to just being random text on screen.

I remember seeing posts from you a while back..
wondered what had happened to ya..

I have been around this place since before the .com to .net move, I didn't register to post for about a year before I finally did..and then I barely said anything for a couple of years after that.
It seemed like everyone knew so much more than I did, and I didnt want to sound stupid, so I kept quiet.
Even after I started spreading the homer-iffic view of the Rockets, it took a couple of years before I discovered the Hangout with it's mulitude of topics to attract my attention.
Now i'm soo glad the Hangout is here, because the GARM forum has become almost identical to the ESPN boards(which I hate) with all the new people taking over.
I still look for people I know, but their posts are few and far between compared to the sheer volume of newbies.

Man, I remember you! I have been around since about 1997....back in the .com days. I've probably got about 600-or so posts from the old bbs that got lost in the switch. My member number might be lower than the current #76 had I registered right away when .com went to .net. Its still cool to be in the original/top 100, though.

The guys I remember from WAAAAAY back then are of course the moderators, and guys like Achebe, AntiSonic, and RM95. I remember RocketmanTex when he was RocketmanWest, and Vengeance when he was Sigemund. Ahh, the good old days....

Oh yeah, I remember that now! I completely forgot that he changed his nick to RocketmanTex... lol. And Sigemund, took me a little while to figure out he had changed his name... he disappeared for a while. Why did he make the switch anyway? I really want to change my user name, this is one I had from when I was a kid, decided to use it without thinking that I might actually end up posting regularly!

I probably had a few hundred posts from the old BBS, it's so pathetic that I haven't yet reached 1000 posts!

I remember the .com days, whatever happened to that Swindle dude anyway?

Hmmmm. The useless-TV-quotes-to-actual-substance ratio is a bit out of whack right now in this thread. Allow me to fix it:

Simpsons: "I used to be with 'it', but then they changed what 'it' was. Now what I'm with isn't 'it' anymore, and what's 'it' seems weird and scary."

Seinfeld: "Well, you see, David... you're a face painter."

Newsradio: "Are you challenging my constitutional right to make nude phone calls?"

I used to be interesting back in the old days of ClutchCity.

Now I just get lost in a crowd of younger, smarter, and funnier people than myself. ;)

    I personally blame Scotty Pippen.

That's when this site got its first major boost in members.

I also blame Osama Bin Laden because it was his fault our economy plunged, which resulted in me losing my job.

After that I didn't post much at all for nearly a year.

Now I mostly lurk and only post when I feel strongly about something.

Except now. I don't really feel strongly about this topic. Sometimes I just like to hear myself type. It makes me look busy at work.

I don't know anything about Swindle. I didn't realize that Vengeance used to be Sigemund until I met him at BW3s. Not sure why he switched. Lynus302 is an old college thing....nicknames given to freshmen BS. I'm on several websites with this name, but this is the only one I regularly visit.

And I HATE Seinfeld. Easily the most un-funny show I've ever watched. The masturbation episode was the only episode that was hilarious. I wanted to slap both Jerry and Elaine. George made me want to slap the person nearest to me. George drove me so nuts! Kramer and Neuman were the only saving graces of that entire series. And I know I'm in the minority, but GOD I hate that show.

Wow. I hated Seinfeld until I actually watched one episode (about 2 years ago with this beautiful syndication).

The only one I ever watched while it was on NBC was the very last one.

    And it sucked.

But, you must not be in on the inside jokes...

Tim: All right, it is cavity time. Ah, here we go. Which reminds me, did you here the one about the rabbi and the farmer's daughter? Huh?

    Jerry: Hey.

    Tim: Those aren't mahtzah balls.

Jerry: Tim, do you think you should be making jokes like that?

Tim: Why not? I'm Jewish, remember?

    Jerry: I know, but...

Tim: Jerry, it's our sense of humor that sustained us as a people for 3000 years.

    Jerry: 5000.

Tim: 5000, even better. Okay, Chrissie. Give me a schtickle of flouride.

I've tried. I watched it college because my friends more or less made me. I've seen many, many episodes. I've never found that show to get more than an infrequent chuckle out of me. Maybe I'd find it funnier if the characters didn't just, well....irritate me. George, Jerry, and Elaine, in that order make me want to hurt people. I can't stand the actors because of the flat-out irritating characters they played on that show.

I generally find hilarious what everyone else finds hilarious, with Seinfeld being the one exception....not even getting stoned in college helped. Seinfeld was a total buzz-kill for me.

    Damn French!!!!!!

The makers of French's Mustard made the following recent statement:

"We at the French's Company wish to put an end to statements that our
product is manufactured in France. There is no relationship, nor has
there ever been a relationship, between our mustard and the country of
France. Indeed, our mustard in manufactured in Rochester, NY. The only
thing we have in common is that we are both yellow".

    j/k!!:D

Seriously, can't believe you hate Seinfeld so much... one of my favourite shows. Elaine is annoying, though, I agree with that. What do you find so irritating about the show?

I'm going to assume you watch the Wanda Sykes show.

I think it's diluted comedy so far. Wanda can (and should) do better.

Oh btw, Curb Your Enthusiasm RULES!!!
