Wow you listed a bunch of no name rappers and failed to list Travis Scott? Arguably the hottest young mainstream rapper right now. Shouts out Houston in like half his songs.

Swift checks the box for Hot and Texas/Houston connection since her mom is from here.

    No names?

    Are you from Houston?

I have no idea who Travis Scott is. The only radio station I listen to is Boom 92.1.

    The rest is crap.

I'm not a huge country fan, but:

The name in this thread that makes the most sense to me if you wanted to be a little different is Garth Brooks. He'll give it a country feel, but he puts on one of the best live shows you can possibly attend (and I'm not even a huge fan). He's not "retired" anymore and is in a giant world tour that will probably still be ongoing that he'd want to promote.

He has enough hits that everybody knows the songs, and he's a big enough star with enough cross appeal to pair him with other non country acts if you wanted to...or other "country-ish" pop stars.

I'm surprised Taylor Swift hasn't done one of these yet. Is there a reason? I'm guessing she's never going to do one of these.

Adele's music isn't extremely upbeat, but it would draw in viewers for sure. It would segway into the Grammys next year too, so Adele might choose to do it because of that reason.

Have rappers ever taken the stage? Aside from Missy Elliott and the Black-Eyes Peas (I guess), there really hasn't been many rappers, much less local Houston rappers.

Bieber would be a good choice. Can dance, can sing, and he's a big name.

I'm saying that those guys are no names to the rest of the world, those guys aren't national or mainstream whatsoever. The only Houston rapper that could maybe fit the criteria of what the Super Bowl is looking for is Travis Scott.

These guys put on a pretty good show. I could see them sharing a stage with Taylor Swift.

Oh I see what you mean now.

I agree. Most people outside of Houston wouldn't know who some of those rappers are.

What's a good Travis Scott song?

His album Rodeo is pretty good. His hottest song is Antidote (you've probably heard it before). His style is a blend of Kanye West/Kid Cudi. 23 year old kid from Houston, pretty smart guy too as he attended UT for a year or so before dropping out to make music.

If you want to keep it local I think they should go with Jandek.

Justin Bieber and The Weeknd are the favorites followed by Selena Gomez.

    Clay Walker.

I think a Garth Brooks/Taylor Swift concert would be a pretty big deal. Garth Brooks is awesome in concert. I'm not a Taylor Swift fan, but no doubt she is a HUGE star.

But the NFL prefers pop chart leaders, so while Swift is a possibility, I doubt Garth is.

    Thanks...

I have and like it even better now knowing that it's a H-Town product.

It isn't easy getting into UT. Much props.

I'm gonna buy his album to support him.

Not sure how much play it'll get as I'm stuck in my old-school ways.

    Man, I feel old.

the Super Bowl committee will probably find someone safe to perform. I doubt any Houston rapper will be asked.
