this thread seems kind of pointless. why would we complain back then, we were winning and we had one of the greatest centres of all time? Obviously something has to change

what i wouldn't give for a 94 Otis Thorpe next to Yao, that would be nice

btw the way the Rockets played dump it in to Dream and then if quadrupled then out for a 3 i highly doubt the 94 rockets would have been stopped by zones

If it is who I am thinking of (based on your recent posting history), it is the same guy who did an Eric Cartman (screw you guys, I'm going home) because he couldn't accept a different role on a team destined for another championship.

He was a whiner and a punk and I was glad to be rid of him.

We can't get defensive rebounds if JVG keeps sending Yao to trap on the 3 point line...

hate to say but if the current Garm make-up was around in 94 they would have complained about the offense or the prettiness of the ball played by the team

I think your right on the complaining part Smeg......lol

On the zone defense comments: heck most of the teams played zone on us back then even though it should have been called illegal.....but thats another thread!

I am not sure if Yao is supposed to be trapping at the three point line or if he is just doing that on his own......he needs to stay home and guard the lane.

I think the players do a lot of things that JVG wishes they wouldn't do.......

so did we, Rudy was the master of coaching a zone that didn't get caught playing illegal D too often, i mean what else would you play with Hakeem as goalkeeper

Van Gundy's quote "Yao needs to continue going out to trap and help his point guard just as his point guard helps him out"

Here's why I complain: if it's NOT WORKING and you are either too stubborn or too stupid to do something about it so that you can WIN, then you should be fired. The group of players we have right now could easily contend for a championship. Right amout of talent, dedication, etc. JVG get a clue or get out.

Back then the Offense worked because the Rox had Dream. Dream averaged 26 13 and 4. Everything works when you are running your offense through your superstar. JVG's dumbass is running everything through Yao who sux. Look at the bulls and notice who unsuccessful they were trying to run the triangle offense through Trenton Hassel and Fred Hoiberg after MJ left.

The only problem with your scenario is that Akeem would shove Yao out of the center spot and over to the 4, the same way Dream did with Ralph Sampson. And the other problem is that Ralph was a far better player than Yao, pre-injuries. Go figure.

I think a tough rebounding PF would turn this team around dramatically.
