At least the Rockets finally appear to be thinking big this offseason. Tired of losing and hopefully that ship is finally turning around. Not related, but I was shocked to see a stat on Amen saying he only made 55% of his layups this year. Every time I start to fall for the “next Lebron” hype I have to see the other side of the equation.
I like Whitmore if the rockets are moving on from green. I think Whitmore reminds me of edawrds and is best as a 2 guard. Too much overlap with green considering jalen isnt a 1 . I like whitmores youth , but that will hurt us in terms of winning next year.
That's what I thought. If Portland is to trade Dame, they will try their best to help him go to a team he likes, not a rebuilding kindergarten team. Maybe a third team involved?
Cod, Good to hear from you brother! Hope you're well. Heard on NBA Radio this morn that MIA is trying to get Dame, also that Nets are secondary player. He'll have a better chance winning in FL versus staying in POR. Ingram looks like perfect fit at SF for us, but he can't stay healthy either. NO appears to be looking at going in totally new direction.
agreed, but do u think our team is good enough from just two drafts to forego this top 4 pick and just sign vets? I think we need one more swing for the fences on the draft.
I hope they keep the pick and get a high upside guy. This is going to be our last high pick for a while, unless the Nets totally self-destruct before we trade all their picks away. I understand that we don't want to tank anymore. But to rush the winning without seeing the long-term picture will be a mistake. We don't want to give up all our assets and cap room to get some third level "difference makers" just to win a few more regular season games. I hope we either go all in to get a top 10 guy (very unlikely) or gradually accumulate good team-first role players and hope that one or two of our young core will turn into top 10-20 guys.
I like BI but dont necessarily want to deal #4 for him unless it is #4/2026 Brooklyn/KMJ/Ty 1st for BI and Dyson Daniels. I want a vet pg AND a young pg.
You keep forgetting that high picks these days have a higher bust rate.....so we could suck get a number 2 pick and he busts, and we sucked for no reason. You can't draft your way into championships you need to draft and trade. DD
Totally agree. Whitmore is a 2, and it’s either him or Green at the end of the day. Both have flaws. Draft-Develop-Trade-SignFAs. These are the non mutually exclusive avenues.
What do you mean by higher bust rate? There have always been busts. I have no delusion to think that we will be guaranteed to get a superstar through the draft. But those who dismiss the importance of high picks also forget that the chances of getting a star increase the higher you pick. This has been proven through historical data. Everything is about probability. My point is, you don't give up high potentials to acquire mediocre so-called difference makers who have no chance of being 1st or 2nd best player on a championship team. My fear is that Stone is under pressure to win now and is willing to mortgage the future. Coaches are notorious of wanting to win now because that's their job.
Like I said, Cam is probably a smokescreen. That guy other GM’s hype up with the amazing tryout sessions, just to see if other GM’s take the bait and draft him too early. Like all of us in a fantasy football auction league where we keep tossing up players we don’t want, hoping to exhaust the cap space of our competitors:
Christopher shot 30% from 3 in college. Cam shot 34%. Cam is a much better shooter, much better defender, younger, bigger and stronger. I see some similarities, but I don’t think they are in the same league as prospects.
