When did I say that the reason I don't like this current team as much as the T-Mac team was based around supposed "team-first play" instead of "star-power play"? Obviously I loved it when we had those iconic stars, but just because you have stars on your team doesn't mean you can't play team basketball. What, every team that has stars do not play team-first basketball? Answer: They do, and they do it so much better. They play team basketball with stars instead of role players.

as I said, 3000 posts means nothing if they were all rubbish posts. I clearly have written some useful information if I was given any green points at all. Get it?

Not every 3000+ member is guaranteed green points or what...

Woa woa look what we have here...someone decided to make themselves sound like a smartie-pants by going all the way to find that member and attach a few green dots onto them. what an effort!!!

Ariza performed VERY well after the Martin trade. I don't have the stats on me, but he was a very efficient player in that lineup. Hence even more reason I don't get why he was traded away.

    **** that **** !!

Even blind squirrals find acorns every now and then.

He was a heaping pile of **** on a quality team, he couldn't play defense, couldn't dribble a ball, and was one of the biggest whiny assed titty babies I have ever seen.

The day he left the team was a joyous occassion for Rocket's nation.

    Trevor......GTFO !!!

Some people like to see the glass half-full and the others half-empty. It seems like you prefer to note the bricked jump shots compared to all the other things he brought onto the table.

Let me ask you something...who in recent Rocket's history was as long and as athletic and quick as Trevor Ariza other than the physical specimen that is T-Mac? I bet you don't remember any recent Rocket picking off a pass in the passing lane and then storming down the court for a slam dunk.

and you're not going to because you think battier is worthless.....

getting a great back up SG and keeping battier in the game > keeping ariza

Kevin Martin does that, Chase Budinger does that.....

Trevor's playing the passing lanes got more dunks for the opponents than it did for our team.

The guy thinks he is a star, and he is barely a servicable role player.

I have to agree - without Ariza the excitement just isn't there. You're lying to yourself if you disagree.

    You're a Morey fan, correct?

Morey said on more than one occasion:"Ariza's defense was worth his contract alone".

That says something about his defensive ability and performance.

Blind squirrels wouldn't have been able to find acorns for 2 months continuously. Ariza was very efficient for the last 2 months of the season.

The guy needed room to grow and develop, and we can see an improvement throughout the season.

Don't be so quick to write off a player, whos young, adapting to a much bigger role, and was essentially told to go out there and do what he wants.

I am NOT a Morey fan, I am a Rocket's fan, I think being a fan of the GM is silly.....sure you can like what he does but being a fan, yeah...no thanks.

Morey lies a lot, and a lot of ignorant fans take what he says as gospel......not me, he is a marketing wizard as much as he is a good GM.

As for the team.....the minute that piece of garbage Ariza was jettisoned the Rockets got 20% better.

Chase Budinger is 3 times the player that Trevor is already and Shane is a better role player who is much smarter and a better teamate.

Trevor Ariza was an asset....and you can take away the last two letters of asset to get what he really is....

What a joke, he was awful, simply crap.....it was like watching paint dry with needles being stuck into each eye....

He was an idiot on offense, a dumbass on defense, and a whiny b**** on the floor.

    He SUCKS ....

    Good riddance !!!!

Nice post if you are stuck in the past but this is a new retooled Rockets team. I know it is preseason but the D is back and having a roster that is 2 deep in every position will be key for the up coming season. This team will be feared come playoff time. Go Rockets!!

This so-called "gambling", I've seen used by critics to describe the defensive games of leading steal getters for a long time. Now everyones hailing Gerald Wallace as a defensive king, but he was once bashed for gambling constantly here and there for his defense.

I've seen Trevor guard Kobe much better than Shane has been able to. In fact that game in LA (think Ariza's tossed shoe by Ron Ron), Ariza was basically hounding Kobe the whole game and came up with crucial defensive plays against Kobe. I really can't see any of Shane's defensive performances being better than that.

We were an uptempo team with absolutely zero defensive anchors in the middle and absolutely zero shotblocking. Steals would have made that uptempo offense that much smoother.

I am just as positive and excited about this team as you are.

But one fact is: the NBA is a star-dominated league.

And we don't have that championship star.

Trevor Ariza tried to fill our "star" role and failed pretty bad with turnovers and a terrible shot selection

    Thats very harsh on Trevor.

I don't think Morey would have signed him to a 5 year deal and then let him freestyle and roam around the court if he didn't believe Ariza was a good player.

You're saying that Morey was simply saying those kind of things to drive up the reputation of Trevor. Now, there is no way thay can be proven. Whether its a lie or not is anyone's call. However I don't believe Morey had reasons to lie. He said it just when he had signed Trevor.

Trevor's game only suffered when he tried to carry to much of the load on the team. With Yao back this season Trevor can go back the the role player that he was during his Laker times. Thats when he can really excell.

He was just a good player stuck in a bad situation last season.
