"There was nothing wrong with it... until I was about 12 years old and that no-talent ass clown became famous and started winning Grammys"
Michael Buble' is in Moline next week and my teenage son and daughter insisted that my wife and I take them. Looking forward to it.
I think, sadly, that's what everyone has turned the phrase into. Anyone who someone doesn't like is all of a sudden a "no talent ass-clown."
You guys will have a blast! I went to a show in Dallas last year with my lady and her parents. The guy is a natural showman. What usually is just idle chit chat and empty platitudes for most performers takes on a skit-like feel that really engages the audience. I laughed my ass off many times. The only thing I can think of that someone could criticize him for is just a characteristic of the genre he sings. Sure, he does a lot of covers, but that's all Big Band lounge singers. I don't mind. In fact I love it. Many genres evolve over time and it's not very often a good thing. The genre doesn't change much, if at all, when you look at a Sinatra to a Bobby Darin, etc. To me that's a refreshing good thing. I'm sad that I won't ever get to see Bobby Darin perform, but I'm happy to see something very comparable in Bubble. His talent goes beyond his pipes, he's got charisma and knows how to work a crowd. Guy's just classy.
To be honest with you, I love his music. I do. I am a Michael Bolton fan. For my money, I don't think it gets any better than when he sings when a man loves a woman.

I know this thread is about singers but can anyone explain why Regis Filbun is even famous? Is being cranky and annoying a talent?
Thanks. That's great to hear. I couldn't agree more about this type of music. Give me Sinatra, Bennett, Darin, and especially Dean Martin and I'm a happy guy. The music is timeless and crosses all generations. My parents listened to it, I listen to it, and now my kids listen to it. We' ll be driving somewhere and I'll turn Buble' on and they'll turn off their ipods and tell me to turn it up. Next week will be fun.
