Happened all the time where I grew up... a lot of the city schools weren't air conditioned yet. A lot of the schools wouldn't allow shorts. Skirts were allowed, though, with no restrictions on length. Every once in a while a guy would wear a skirt because it wasn't fair, the girls could. He would get suspended, get his picture in the newspaper, whatever. It was really just a protest.

Man. RTFM, zoork. He's 17. Still not able to make his own decisions, not 18, like you say. Don't freakin' p*ss me off. He's 17. Still, whether he could make his own decisions or not, he CANNOT, I repeat, he CANNOT be dressed like a girl in school. Sure, he's following the rules... sure, he's being "himself" (although that's a little weird to me and the entire BBS population, hence the reason someone said: 'holy crap, let me post this!'), but wearing a skirt (not a kilt, mind you) is WEIRD, QUEER, FAIRY, whatever. WhereTF is the father in all this? Answer my question.

Wow. "He's making his own decision"...

    jk, man, I ain't pissed. :p

In my senior year of High School, if I felt that strongly about the shorts rule (we could wear shorts), I would worn a skirt to school with no problem. I was comfortable with my social standing in school and I don't think that it would have affected me in any negative way. Everyone knew me as someone who would do something outrageous like that anyway. I was not in drama or anything like that. I was in football and did all of the regular things that high school kids do like go out drinking on weekends and have girlfriends.

I would guess that this kid is just like that and willing to have fun with himself to make a point with very little backlash socially from his peers. I wouldn't be surprised if his friends jump in and start wearing skirts too. The hardest day was the first one, but after that, I'm sure that it's just a matter of how outrageous his next skirt is going to be.

    So it's Halloween
    And you feel like dancin'
    And you feel like shinin'
And you feel like letting loose

    Whatcha gonna be
    Babe, you better know
    And you better plan
    Better plan all day

    Better plan all week
    Better plan all month
    Better plan all year

You're dressed up like a clown
    Putting on your act
It's the only time all year
    You'll ever admit that

    I can see your eyes
    I can see your brain
    Baby, nothing's changed

    I can see your eyes
    I can see your brain
    Baby, nothings changed

You're still hiding in a mask
    You take your fun seriously
No, don't blow this year's chance
Tomorrow your mold goes back on

    After Halloween

    You go to work today
    You'll go to work tomorrow
    ****faced tonight
You'll brag about it for months

    Remember what I did
    Remember what I was
    Back on Halloween

    But what's in between
    Where are your ideas
    You sit around and dream
    For next Halloween

    Why not everyday?
    Are you so afraid?
    What will people say?

    Why not everyday?
    Are you so afraid?
    What will people say?

    After Halloween

Because your role is planned for you
    There's nothing you can do
But stop and think it through
But what will the boss say to you?

And what will your girlfriend say to you?
And the people out on the street they might glare at you
And whadya know you're pretty self-conscious too

So you run back and stuff yourselves in rigid business costumes
Only at night to score is your leather uniform exhumed
Why don't you take your social regulations
And shove 'em up your ass

well, im glad youre not pissed, and i dont know where his dad is, but hes probly somewhere laughing and enjoying the attention that his son is getting. i still dont see the issue. If this was a gay kid wearing girl clothes to school, i would definitely have issues, (i guess that makes me narrow minded, but whatever) but its not. the only reason i even paid attention to this thread is because this is something i could totally see myself doing. Its a stupid rule made by idiots and it serves no purpose. They cant wear shorts until after a certain date??? whats the point of that? i can understand no shorts at all, but whats the difference if someone wears shorts in march or in april? goosebumps when its cold in the morning? this guy should get all the other guys in his school to wear skirts too and then maybe the principal or whoever would realize how dumb the rule is.

It is definitely a dumb rule and think the kid should make them look like idiots all day long. There is absolutely no point in telling kids that they cannot wear shorts.

OK, now I see what you mean. OK, being gay is OK to you? :D

Maybe the date is because they understand it is absolutely unbe-freakin'-beliavably hot after April 17th, or whatever TF date they said, and they will allow them to wear shorts.

If I were his dad I would have gotten out of dodge.

And it's "principal", if you're referring to the top director of the school, and "principle" if you're referring to the idea which sets a basis.

    The system works.

No, what I meant is... "Fine, freakers... keep saying that boys wearing skirts is OK... FINE." <- you know, like the women say: "Fine." Which really isn't. And I am not a woman. And I am not FINE with the whole thing. And I confused you again. And
