Jeff, it's the price we pay for following a sport run by millionaires without a concious, without regard for fans paying good money to follow said sport and blatantly LYING to them in ads shown on League Pass that claim it shows the "biggest games with your favorite teams... all the hottest action... blah, blah, blah... " while it trys to sqeeze more money from companies like Time/Warner to show a "new channel" (NBA TV) that was part of what people like us paid for until a short time ago. Right now I don't see any humor in any of it. Sorry. I'm just really pissed off. It's not easy to go to a sports bar with young kids who want your attention on the weekend, and deserve it (and might like to watch the game), and to go to a smoke-filled bar when you don't smoke to see a game you already PAID for to see at home. Did I mention that I'm upset?? Everyone affected should fire off a nasty e-mail to NBA.com... the ****ers. PS- I would be willing to bet that "DirecTV" paid a fee to show "NBA TV". That's what this is all about. More money for the NBA and **** the fans.
Sucks for y'all. Of course, us Dish Network owners get it! And if you are lucky enough to get NBA TV...they're having a thing on the 1994 Finals right now.
I may need to look into that, RM95, but I'm stuck with this bs for the balance of THIS season. You lucky dogs with dish!
SandBBill, Does it matter if you spell millionairrre correctly? Or does it matter if you have the money in the bank? Spelling is overrrrratttteeeddddd. DD
Beaumont fans-does anyone know if the Rockets will be on the public service channel -18 for the Sacramento game???
Guys.....Im telling you. I said in the earlier post about this that I received a 99.00 dollar credit from Time Warner, after the Dallas game that was on NBATV that I was not able to watch. Today I received confirmation that I actually got a 113.00 dollar credit on my cable bill. You have to complaint not that you missed 3 or so Rocket games. But that you missed several games a week and that you paid to be able to see ALL those games.
I'll explain. I already sent two long, scathing emails to the NBA. According to the NBA, NBA TV is national TV. In reality, it's only national to the 15 to 20% of households who have a satellite dish. For some weird reason, digital cable and the NBA can't agree, which is why us digital cable subscribers don't get the game. It doesn't seem like that should be a very tough agreement.
I talked to one of the managers from Comcast cable. He told me that DIRECTV (satellite providers) have made an exclusive contract with the NBA and basically Comcast or Warner cable have been leveraged out. It's become a bidding war, and guess who rolls in the cash? The NBA. They can basically name their price and lockout value to other NBA League Pass providers that are NOT satellite. In the past, I was aware of blackout games that are regional (local games). But, this is different. We're talking 5 games per team that are only shown on NBATV. So, Comcast and Warner are basically being screwed by the NBA. I wonder if the FTC should know about this? Not only is it pissing off the cable providers, but it's pissing off the NBA fans out there. That's a no-no!!! Most of the anger should be pointed to the NBA, not the cable providers. They are doing all they can to re-negotiate. But the NBA has got them by the balls. http://www.nba.com/email_us/letters_to_nba.html leaguepass@nba.com Another thing you can do is call your cable provider and ask for the manager. Ask for the number for the Consumer Advisor. That's what they call it for Comcast. It's an office that deals with complains. If you want to go higher, ask for the Regional Vice President of your location. That would be at the corporate office in your location. For example, Dallas/FT. Worth has their own. Houston/Harris County has their own too.
Until it storms during the last minute of a close game. That happened to us once. 'Searching for Satellite Signal'
