This board grossly overrates Jabrari’s offense….he averages 13-14 points per game and you say that Allen who averages about 20 a game would hurt us???
This is a simple-minded take. It’s not about how many points they score, it’s about the role they play and how they score. Jabari is a shooter, Allen is a dunker. This is not even hard to grasp.
If we can get a Robert Williams / Nic Claxton type big off the bench then it would be no problem. That is the most glaring hole on our team currently. Luckily we will have the draft to address the need. Those type of players are easily attainable with a late lotto pick.
This - it isn't as simple as some thing it is. Udoka knows that they want Sengun more involved - but the other teams don't want him involved and will do what they can to prevent it, and Sengun is like 21 years old and hasn't learned everything he will learn as far as positioning, etc. It just takes time. Short of adding a superstar, really bad teams like the 2022-2023 Rockets don't become really good teams over night.
hahahhahahhahah pewee basketball level iq this is exactly why folks like you have no business telling the rockets what they should and should not be doing. Even a ymca team of little kids would be stupid enough to hear your words
Jabrari shoots 47% and Allen shoots 64% and defends and scores much better without being a toothpick. I’d take Allen and aquire one of the 100 3 and D players and we would be fixed and a contender. A skinny almost 7 footer who doesn’t even shoot 48% is nothing that special. He’s goodand has potential, but lacks bulk and quite honestly 13 ppg is good but not untradeable when you need a spot for Sengun if we get a legit big.
Also, Allen does not average 20 a game. He averages 15 (at age 25 in his 7th season), barely more than Jabari (at age 20 in his second year).
Redifine PF; can you elaborate? Because I don’t believe he would ever play 4 unless he bodily commits 100% which would make sure he will be undoubtedly undersized for 5. Maybe there is a way that I don’t know?
Last 30 games with Sengun on the floor, -2.5 Net Rating Last 30 games with Sengun off the floor, 3.0 Net Rating Getting a better backup center would help, but it isn't close to the most glaring need. The Rockets are losing the minutes with Sengun on the floor and it has been getting worse.
Where would everyone even stand? Allen is useless outside of 2 feet, same as sengun. Allen shoots a high % because he just dunks, he has taken one 3 pointer this season. Also, he averages 15 and not 20 (though that’s irrelevant)
Jalen Green has been horrible, but lately the minutes with Green have been some of the least worse minutes with Sengun on the court (i.e., Green is a huge problem, but it isn't solely Green). Smith has been hurt (even when playing, he's not been the same since the original sprained ankle). Ditto for Brooks. The starters collectively have not been able to play defense together often. I would not exempt Sengun from the defensive issues even though he and FVV are vital for the offense to work. Overall, the Rockets need a star wing or guard, and need to find a way to defend again with Sengun on the court. Backup center isn't going to address those issues.
LOL The Rockets are not losing the minutes with Sengun on the floor, he has the 2nd best net rating (+1.5) among starters after FVV (+3.6). The Rockets are losing the minutes with Jalen on the court and Jabari on the court. Jalen -1.9 and Jabari -0.7.
I was referring to the last 30 games if I wasn't being clear. The Rockets starting unit and Sengun were dominating the court early in the season. That post you referenced wasn't even meant to be disparing to Sengun in the least. It was meant to show that the Rockets biggest problems were not occuring with the backup center on the court over the last 30 games. FVV and Sengun have been the best two Rockets this season, and the Rockets problem has been not making it work better around those 2.
