The most blatant and consistently wrong calls that I see always favor LA (like a few nights ago). LA constantly benefits from officiating favors. ...and that statement doesn't even begin to scrape the surface since (in addition to the blatantly bad calls they make) the officials also ignore 2 or 3 offensive fouls a game from Shaq. I admit though that Shaq fouls on the offensive end a lot less than he used to. It's too bad that the NBA won't win this little mini-battle with the officials, since they totally mishandled the disciplinary action.
Holding someone accountable for the mistakes he makes is such a difficult task in this country! Where are we going?
i don't really wonder b/c it's obvious officiating is there to pander to the big market teams/big name players. i won't say it's fixed but it is heavily slanted to those teams by design. i really don't think it's the refs that are stupid, it's just that they know what they're supposed to do. the nba is more dependent on big stars and big markets to attract an audience than the nfl and mlb and thus tries to help itself in this way. it's not an accident that la and ny (when they weren't horrible) get all the calls and that the games biggest player, jordan, got all the calls. sometimes refs see such minor stuff at such high speeds i'm amazed they were able to pull it off and i realize they are very good at what they do. i just don't think the league wants them to be perfect, they want them to help them make money. there's no way all the calls for LA are just a coincidence. maybe the nba suspended the dude just for making it too obvious and the refs are protesting for essentially doing what they are told to do.
The NBA needs INSTANT REPLAY. Just give the coaches two challanges like in the NFL system. Sure it stops the game for a couple of minutes, but that is really no different than a time out.
