I know the game slows down for players after a season or two in the league. Especially for the PGs. But, what is actually the difference between PGs in their first 2 years and the other years? Alot of people have came out with the point that AB is only in his 2nd year, 1st (or half) season as a starter. Chris Paul 2nd season stat 17.3/8.9/1.8 last season stat 22.8/11/2.8 Deron Williams 2nd season stat 16.2/9.3/1 last season stat 19.4/10.7/1.1 Tony Parker 2nd season stat 15.5/5.3/0.9 last season stat 22/6.9/0.9 Jameer Nelson 2nd season stat 14.6/4.9/1.1 last season stat 16.7/5.4/1.2 So the difference is 3-5 points, 1-2 assist? Small sample size, so i wonder can anyone tell me why its such a significant reason that AB is "only" in his 2nd year and 1st as a starter.
....to add, your stats don't begin to tell the story of how much worse AB is as a defender then the rest of the people on that list. Those guy's points and assists are only significant in that that out produce their opponent's night in and night out. I can't say AB does that or ever will.
Not comparing but it didn't stop AI from improving that. Plus AB can shoot better percentages than AI with fewer attempts based on his shooting touch and ability. I like Brooks but it's hard to choose from a decent to possibly good PG and getting someone like Amar'e Stoudamire.
he is pretty good... BUT I would have traded him and bat man in a heart beat for Robio. this kid is going to be REALLY good
So our starting point guard averages LESS THAN 4 ASSISTS PER GAME? That's horrible. He also doesn't play defense very well against larger guards. I believe Brooks is overvalued around here based on his scoring ability alone.
Exactly. The thing people have to understand about net production is that it favors players that are good on both sides of the ball (ex. Chris Paul). If you're really good one one side (Nash), then your net production may not be that impressive. As for Brooks, his numbers indicate that he's worse on defense than he is good on offense. Battier is the opposite.
