What does resigning from the Academy mean? Just that he can't ever be eligible for an Academy Award again?

    • Yes, he still gets to keep his Best Actor Oscar for “King Richard”
    • Yes, he can still get invited to future Academy Awards ceremonies
    • Yes, he can still be nominated for future consideration
    • No, he is no longer a voting member of the Academy
Means actually nothing. He cannot cast a vote for movies, for directors, for actors and professionals.

But they could still add another sanction to it if they feel like it.

That poor man can never vote for someone else to receive an Oscar.

What will he do? What will he do? The travesty! The horror!

:D In an else-world where his son is ever nominated because of an aggressive oscar campaign, you know Will would vote for his son.

I’m glad SNL supported a former cast member by making fun of Will Smith (Weekend Update included). SNL did not shy from making fun of his overreaction to a joke.

    In light of this.
    Net worth comparison:
Will Smith: 350 million before all of this (Should be the best paid black actor)
    (Denzel:280-300) (Foxx:170)

Chris Rock: 60-100 million (Seinfeld close to a billion)

Jada Pinkett: 50-60 million (Doing pretty well actually, not that far off, Kevin Samuels said people do not carea bout her)

The Smiths are a money generating family........the Slap will negatively impact Will but the family would still churn out money.

The one thing that would have made this funnier is if the seat filler had to jump in his seat when he went for the slap. That would have killed.

She comes off as much more than uneducated. More importantly, she doesn’t come off as funny.

I wonder if the Academy committee will continue with their investigation now that Smith resigned. They should and come to their decision, just to make a point.

If not, Smith has effectively shut down further negative publicity, whether he meant to or not.
