Thank goodness. Anybody ever get word on the incriminating pictures Raley had on Dusty? Otherwise I can't offer any other explanation as to not only why he was used in so many moderate to high leverage situations but why he was even on the team.
Well, there needs to be done roster management, as room needs to be made for all the new faces. i am very curious to see who makes the cut…
Certainly you don't think they survive adding the following pitchers: Yimi Garcia Pedro Baez (finally coming back from illness in about 1 week from now) Phil Maton Bielak and Raley certainly be 2 of the first 3 relief pitchers optioned back to the minors, Scrubb probably bring the 3rd one. Your relief pitching pecking order: 9th Pressly 8th Graveman 6th/7th Baez/Javier/Garcia/Stanek Taylor (only left hander left) Maton Abreu There are your top 9 relief pitchers. Bielak, Scrubb and Raley far behind those 8. They are gone. What was the weakest part of this team is arguably their biggest strength. This team is now set to make a run at another title.
While you are hopefully correct, your post implies it's a done deal. Baez has a ways to go yet if he's only hitting 91 MPH.
Yea...uhh based on how Click was talking up Raley for getting lefties out in one of his zoom conferences for either the Yimi or Graveman trade you are going to be disappointed. Brooks Raley will 100% pitch in the post season for the Astros.
I would say trade deadline was a successfully for us. Pretty much brand new backend of the bullpen, minus Pressly. We all knew SP and offense were top end in AL but bullpen was horrible. Click was able to fix that with Toro, Straw and AAA player. Well done Click!!
I need him to be suspended indefinitely. He is not MLB material, never will be. Has no velocity, has no stuff. I don't get why he was even called up. At least Blake Taylor has some life on his fastball and a pretty good slider, especially against lefties.
Raley has literally cost Dusty money out of his own pocket because of how bad he is. I'm sure the fine was manageable but in the words of Big Worm, "There's principalities in this."
Raley has dominated, and I mean dominated, left handed batters over the last 2 seasons. Hitting .171 with an OPS under .500. On the flip side righties have lit his ass up. The 3 batter rule makes things a little more complicated, but there are still plenty of situations in which that platoon dominance can be used. Of course we have Dusty pulling the strings, which is the problem.
So no Raley or Bielak in sight. Thank God. Dusty is treating Yimi like a red headed stepchild, however. Come on Dusty, we didn't trade for him to be at the bottom of the pecking order of your bullpen. Be better.
Or... since Graveman and Pressley both threw 10 or less pitches, it seems one of them could have gone an extra inning.
