He was banged on the head pretty hard. If you noticed, he had been rubbing it consistently right after the foul. He probably had it checked it out make sure he wasn't bleeding or something along those lines...
It's two years in a row that Luther disappears in teh playoffs. As a specialist which Luther has become, it's very difficult for him to stick in the league if he can not contribute anything in the post-season. I watched Deron Williams and Luther on the same Illinois team when I was in Chicago and back then although I did know that Deron was going to better I never could have guessed how much better he'd be.
As poorly as Luther has played the late part of the regular season and now the playoffs, I honestly don't remember him being much a factor in last years playoff series against the Jazz either. My guess is the Rox try to unload him for a 2nd round pick this year.
After a statement game like this its hard to complain about anything but I still can't help myself from begging and pleading to keep this guy on the bench. He's such a terrible decision maker and my heart literally stops beating everytime he's in the game and touches the ball. Everything from the first half boneheaded turnovers, to the blown lay up he was spoon fed that he blew to crying to officials while his man (Brewer) gets a wide open alley oop on the other end. I don't think this guy's ever going to "get it".
sometimes, the rim gets in the way of a layup. Luther Head shouldn't play in the playoffs. At one time, he was our best trade bait, but now his value has diminished. It's already bad enough they make him run the point, but his shooting and layups both suck. I don't think he should play the rest of the series.
I was at the game and was wondering - I wonder what Gerald Green would look like in Luther's place. He'd be able to guard their big guards.. sigh
If only he had one thing: CONFIDENCE. This guy is just the most hesitant player I've ever seen. He actually does have a good shooting touch, the ability to drive the lane, has good foot speed, quick hands, athleticism, and can make good hard cuts. If only he had more confidence, I really think he could average close to 15 points a game easily. The way he's built suggests that he should be a major scoring threat...oh well.
Gerald Green wouldn't be able to guard anyone. Let's not fool ourselves. The guy didn't even get picked up. And, yes, Head has sucked ass all series long.
what happened to the luther that dunked over 5 lakers? I think he is shooting 25 percent from the field.
I really don't know why Luther keeps going back on the missing milk carton. Its just an unexplainable phenomenon that he has carried over from last year. Everytime I see him trying to pass- I cringe. If only he could knock down atleast a couple of shots.......
I've been down on Luther Head since halfway through his first season. It was painfully obvious to me that he had little future in this league. Yet, the Luther-lovers constantly slammed me and others who were just speaking the truth. Here's one of many examples from last year... Entire thread (Beware Luther-lovers: much Luther hating inside): http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=136915&page=3&highlight=Luther+Head+Europe BrooksBall: He is too undersized to play SG and can't play PG. JayZ750: He's the same height as Francis. What he gives up in weight, he makes up in speed. But considering no one ever knew what Francis really was when he played here (PG, SG?) and it is certainly less clear now, I don't see how Luther's "lack of position" is relevant to the Head vs. Francis argument. BrooksBall: Every time the ball goes to him, the offensive flow stops. JayZ750: you're talking about Luther here, or Francis. What universe are you watching these games in? BrooksBall: He his hesitant and scared to dribble the ball. He struggles passing the ball, too. JayZ750: in extremely limited action he has 4 assists and no turnover. His assists per 48 minutes is at 13.8, good for 8th right now. Sure, it's just 2 games, but you're the one arguing that Francis should start taking those minutes for some reason. did I mention he has zero turnovers? BrooksBall: He had some success playing in a slow-pased, half court offense during his first 2 years, but he just clearly doesn't have the ability to play within this dynamic offense. It doesn't suit his limited game. JayZ750: Again, which universe are you in? the one where you've never seen Luther Head play? He's probably better suited for Adelman's offense than JVGs. His scoring may go down, but so may Yao's, or Shane's or whoever. Luther has had success in the past in various offensive schemes. BrooksBall: He has scored 2 pts in 2 games and has been a defensive liability when on the court. JayZ750: Luther has played 13:53 to be exact, and in that time the Rockets have outscored their opponent by 17 points. Very very very small sample size, but given Adelman was going to play Luther over Steve anyways, you'd have to be an idiot to suggest that Steve should start taking Luther's minutes. Or that Luther has been a defensive liability, or anything really. His +/- per minute is the best in the league. Who cares if he's scored 2 points? Chuck Hayes has scored 6 points but gets 30 mpg. I'm not suggesting Chuck is the long-term solution at the 4, but I'm not suggesting Steve Novak needs to "decide" to play within the system and start taking his minutes either. There's reasons why Adelman is giving players the minutes he's giving them. Steve is being benched because he has never proven he is even capable of playing within an Adelman style system, regardless of what he "decides" to do. Luther has, and played much better in the preseason, and has been great so far this year. At least the Rockets have kicked ass when he's in the game. but hey, if you think luther sucks and francis is the answer, that's your right...i'm just not going to read it anymore. The funniest part is that this was his first comment in the post: JayZ750: BrooksBall, you may be the dumbest Rockets fan I've ever come across on this board, and will be the very first person on my ignore list after all these years. Who's the dummy now? I was wrong to think Francis would take Head's minutes but I could definitely see the failure that is Luther Head since his rookie season.
Lets see here. Luther hasn't been able to hit his layups or his jumper or his threes, hasn't done a good job with assists or on defense, but he makes good cuts. Hmmmm. Maybe we don't realize how important good cuts are to Adelman's system. makes the defense react and opens up other possibilities. For sure Luther has yet to shine in the playoffs, but methinks he will. Methinks he will. And methinks Adelman will play him, if only for a bit. Luther will shine. He can and he will. And if not, I hope he uses one of his fouls to kick Okur in the nuts, hate that guy.
Is just the Jazz. The present a big match up for him. I still like him, but for the rockets a bigger swing man will be better due to the facs that we are to small. I hope we go to the second round, Luther will have a good post season vs the Lakers, he match up pretty well. Is this dam Jazz that have his number by being to physical.
as much as i dont want to agree after seeing his performance tonight.....i agree with your post....he is due anytime now....just to be out there is a plus in some ways because he is a 3-point threat. Hope he can break out of his slump in Game 6....we need any type of offense bad
