I agree. We all "know" what will happen with Harrington, but there will be no movement until the deal is actually signed. I'd say there is a 99% chance the Rockets will make at least one more move. No way we open the season with this roster. No way.
well we do have one more roster spot, and a need for another shot blocker. i don't think we will use the TE since we are close to the LT. maybe a camp fodder will make the roster or maybe we will sign a vet to the min. i don't think we will make trade anyone unless its to get out of Jho's contract. think about it. who would we trade? yao - can't trade, obvious reasons. tmac - same as yao. shane - just got him. rafer - leave the PG spot to 2 rookies? yeah right. snyder - just got him, plus he's the only real sized SG we have. jho - who would take him? vspan, lucas, novak - just got them. deke, hayes, bowen, sura - coaches pets. luther is the only guy with trade value that we could trade. the problem is that we need his shooting in the backcourt, plus he had such a great rookie year. why give up on him so soon? it's not like snyder is a lock to take over the 2-spot for years to come.
If we make a trade or two, Luther, JH and the TE could be involved. Trades are all about value. If we get a decent 4/5 rebounder who is good enough to be a rotation player, trading Luther might be worth it.
the world champs mite be a good way to find us a player who could get those rebounds. personally, id like us to try and get the rights of scola from the spurs
I see your point AD but the Spurs aren't the champs anymore. I doubt if they would give the Rockets the rights to Scola.
They would for a 1st round draft choice, which is their asking price. This is why Scola's agent has ripped the Spurs publicly for holding him "hostage". They won't sign him or trade him to another team.
I think CD has a huge boner for somebody out there, but the player's current team don't want to trade him yet... might have to wait for the middle fo the season for the deal to be made (like the Gaines/James trade)
If the Rockets have one more move, I hope it is before the pre-season begins. I also hope it is for a PF that will rebound and pick up the garbage points.
There probably is one more move but don't expect a caliber of player like Bonzi or Harrington to be playing for the Rox. CD doesn't have the imagination to pull off a deal like that. Look at the waiver wire or the NBDL for the guy we will pick up. The MJ deal which didn't work out and the trade for Battier were the highlights of this offseason, anybody we pick up now won't be a magnitude of improvement over what we have now. A healthy T-Mac, a coming of age Yao and a very good Shane Battier and their success together are all I am counting on from here until next May.
I think the Spurs are more likely to trade Scola for a 1st round pick to a Non-Division Rival instead of the Rockets.
WHY ISN'T RUDY GAY ON THE OLYMPIC TEAM and wasn't even invited to try out? What's the problem is he unproven with no defined role? I sure do miss what I don't know what to expect. Ely and Quyntell Woods?
The point is nobody will give the Spurs a 1st rounder for Scola and they know it. I don't know when he fell out of their good graces but they have clearly decided to stick it to him.
Smoothie, I have to disagree. It would be a serious folley, IMO, to enter the 2006 season without a serious 4/5 backup. If we need to trade Head or Juwan or others then it must be done. Of course we had one in Stro, did OK next to Yao and could play the 5 in small ball, but he got into Gundy's doghouse (read that, "Gundy couldn't figure out how to play him ") and you know the rest. I am happy to have Shane, but I wish we had kept Stro instead of Juwan. Just my opinion.
