there's no way we can win a playoff series unless we sign kobe and/or lebron.

we can send them luther/rafer/hayes/battier/bobby jackson and that should cover it.

there, I just managed to replicate about 1/3 of the posts on the board.

I agree. We don't need players that people are now whinning we don't get, ie the corey magettes, ron artests out there.

But we do need more scoring at the wing spot behind mcgrady. The perfect fit attainable is Mike Miller. Get that done morey.

We are pretty much set but i would like to have another good center that will fill in for 10 to 15 minutes of playing time. It's just a precautionary.

Anybody not named Yao or Tracy should be expendable if it's for the right player.

My top 3 choices would be Artest, Mo Williams, and then Outlaw.

Primary focus should be on a big name and then you get the supporting players.

Many of you gentlemen are suggesting that there is no way we get past the Jazz with our current roster. I disagree with this assessment. You guys refer to our first round exit to prove your point. It's like you've completely forgotten that Yao (our best player) was out for the playoffs... Do the Spurs make it to the WCF w/out Tim Duncan? We almost beat the Jazz in 07 without Scola or Landry. With the addition of these players (including Brooks and Dorsey), along with a healthy roster, our team has a real opportunity to go far in next years playoffs.

Yes! All we need is a little luck in the health department.

We had 4 starters injured when we played the Jazz

    T-Mac - Knee and Shoulder
    Alston - Groin
    Battier - Knee
    Yao - Stress Fracture

Any team with this many injuries to their starters squeaking into the playoffs is not going to get very far.

Kudos to the Rockets for a great year despite all the injuries.

Agreed we need another ball handler.

However, this is the reason many of us are wanting to get Baron or Maggette because, if we cant get a decent pg, at least these people can create their own shot plus they just dominate.

Lets face it! Tmac runs our offense but cant play 48 minutes every game. Yao can get his own shot in the mid range and low post but needs a potent teammate to draw away the attention when Tmac is on the bench so that Yaos not tripled teamed. I definitely like our team right now though. WHEN HEALTHY!

The opening post is correct. We don't need any major changes, jsut some roster tweaks. Brent Barry is a perfect example. He is an upgrade from Luther Head. Horry is not as bad as many others suggest. He will take the minimum so if he plays bad we don't lose much. However he will be a good person to have around the rooms for his experiance in the play-offs. How many players do we have that have been past the first round?
We need those players around the team, taking up those last spots.

    C - Yao, Motumbo, Dorsey
    PF - Scola, Horry
    SF - Battier, Landry
    SG - T-Mac, Greene
    PG - Alston, Jackson, Brooks

    IR - Head, Novak, Hayes

Agreed,.............while 3rd scorer is a need.....it is not the most pressing one..........

this rocks team as is .........is a 52 game or more winner a season............i agree with this..........and a top 5 in the west..........agreed

but we are not getting past the first round again...thats the prob.......

    u gotta think.....this is the west.....its a BEAST..........

we are not better than lakers, hornets, jazz.....or lord forbid the spurs.......especially if they get maggette......and the trailblazer are gonna be leaps and bounds better with odom, they got bayless and they are young.........

if we do not get some tweaks....we are gonna do the same as every year first round exit............

we have many needs.....but if we get a point guard that can consistently hit a open jumper and make people pay when they double yao and tracy....watch out!!!!!!!!!!.....we out of first round purgatory............simple as that

i say go after people who are doomed in there situation.....someone like ben gordon would do wonders...........and he can be had right now cuz of the glut of points there..................and let rafe back him up and bring a true point mentality of the bench....mo williams would also be good.....

people would leave of ben and boy would he make them pay......we need that desperately from out startin point.....

and if all else fails....get vince..................and barry........its on......

Don't forget too that the Rockets are still learning Aldeman's system. From past reports, it takes several seasons to get used to his system, but once the system is fully implemented, points should come steadily within the flow of the offence.

Next year, the players should improve even further in execution of the offence. A well timed cut here, off the ball screen there, and we may not need the fabled third scorer as much as we think.

i dont understand how you could say never. we lost in the last minute in one series and lost in 6 games without the best center in the league.

in saying that though i think we need to have one more borderline allstar player to take some pressure off of tmac and yao. and throw in a little luck with that lessened pressure and i think you really do have something there.

It's my feeling that (other than Yao & Tracy) Scola, Brooks, Landry, and Battier are the only guys anyone else in the league would really want to trade for. Scola I would like to keep. He has an x-factor going for him and enough of a well-rounded game. Battier's value will probably drop after this season except for when his contract is going to expire. I like Battier a lot, but his defense can be made up elsewhere. Brooks is up and coming, thus somewhat attractive to other teams. Landry, ditto, the knee notwithstanding. Jackson will be worth more as an expiring contract at the trade deadline mid-season.

Would YOU trade Scola, Brooks, Landry, and Battier to upgrade overall positions?

it was a blessing that Yao wasn't matched up with Boozer...you seem to forget what Boozer did to Yao 2 years ago...it was ugly...

    refer to the above post

i agree...we don't need tweaks, we need another injury free prolific scorer...

send Landry, Brooks, Alston, BJax, Francis and Hayes on their way...get someone that the fans can get excited about...

rox could have a 82-0 record, but as long as they fall in the first round, its a failure.

Rox making to the WCF, while having a 42-42 season, is good however i look at it.

Thats how i look at it, and playoff should be the priority. Getting that 55 wins is a good achievement, and getting to 6 games with jazz, while having all those injury problem is a good accomplishment. But it shows one thing, which is an over emphasis on our starting 5 to play extended minutes every game. This puts a toll to the players as the season goes on.

Tmac and Yao are fragile, getting a better player will meant tmac and yao being able to rest, while the team out there competing is still competitive. A few minute less played every game, will meant a lot over the course of a long 82 game season, and it will also minus a few minutes that might cause a freak injury.

Look at all the past winners, they all have 3 guys that could put points up.

    Celtics- KG, PP and allen
Spurs - TD, manu and parker
Heat - Wade, shaq and walker
    Pistons- billups, rip and wallace

Can scola be that 3rd man? as all the points he be getting now, will be given to yao, scola will have to be much more efficient with the ball coming season. I be happy if he average 10 points and 7 rebounds.

Major change is not needed, but at least 1 change at the starting 5 will be a whole lot different.

No ,I think Yao is a great player,he should be healthy in the next season.Yao is a player who can perform as a superstar yet earn only 2M dollors per year. Can you believe it? Yes ,that's true,so you should be shocked when you heard that he donated 2M which is as much as his whole year's incomes. He can't afford the excessively expencive or luxuary shoes so he just wears Nike.Actually his sarlary is 13M per year ,but he has to share the money with other guys.T mac has a huge house,as well as KB,and any superstar else, but yao live in a house just as large as some one or two courts.i guess even rafer is richer than yao.so yao is really incredible.

Come on guys. Think critically. Don't blindly agree with the OP just because he's telling you what you want to hear. Sure, we dont need major changes if we assume that everyone is healthy and no other teams have improved since last year. But thats simply not the case.

Portland is getting a few high quality rookies and their blossoming stars have another year of experience under their belt.

LA is getting Bynum back. Granted, he may not reach everyone's expectations of him, but he will definitely make them better. As will a fully healthy Kobe.

Who knows? If the Clippers get both Brand and Davis, they might actually be good this year.

And as good as SA was last year, theres talks that they're courting Maggette.
