The number of cities participating has grown.

The organized day of protests in over 2,000 cities

No Kings organizer Ezra Levin said that interest has “skyrocketed” since those protests began — with individuals in 200 more cities signing up to host No Kings events just this week. He said more people are now expected to turn out than the estimated 3.5 million who participated in a similar nationwide day of action in April.

That's excellent news. The less silence we have, the better.

Protest organizers say they have been in touch with local officials ahead of Saturday’s events, in an effort to make sure the gatherings run safely and smoothly. The aim, they emphasize, is not violence, but rather to send a clear message to the president on his birthday: “In America, we don’t do kings.”

The protest site encourages peaceful protests. Among their tips for Saturday: deescalate, empathize, listen, never touch a police officer.

Let's hope those demonstrating peacefully aren't put in harms way by a few bad actors and thugs infiltrating to crowds to stir up violence. We already have folks in some states threatening with force. The South Carolina Attorney General is labeling these patriotic Americans as anti-American, which is a complete load of BS. That's the type of rhetoric that Trump lovers will use over anyone who doesn't bow and praise their wanna be King.

South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, who characterized the expected protesters as “radical anti-American groups,” warned those who attack law enforcement or destroy property will be prosecuted.

In Florida, Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey said peaceful protests are part of democracy, and people are invited to express their opinions. But he said anyone who breaks the law will face consequences.

“If you throw a brick, a firebomb, or point a gun at one of our deputies, we will be notifying your family where to collect your remains because we will kill you,” Ivey said.

DeSantis has given the green light to run down protesters if you feel threatened. The question of what is interpreted as a threat is what's troublesome. I imagine there will be a few bad actors seeking out targets to hit.

Greg Abbott is using 5,000 National Guard members and 2,000 police as a show of force.

Stay safe, protest peacefully, and steer clear of the bad actors who have aren't there with good intentions. I don't want to see innocent Americans harmed while exercising their free right to protest.

Yeah, what's stopping a protestor from standing their ground and shooting the driver if he starts plowing through the crowd?

this just gives license to people to murder each other

someone will purposely drive into a crowd and use "fear" as a pretense to mow over protestors

It is definitely going to happen IMO

This will turn into a shooting war at some point

More and move governors trying to use the National Guard as an occupying force against their fellow Americans

I disagree with your vote yes. Doesn’t mean you can’t change your mind on democracy vs authoritarianism in the future. However yes you did vote for all of this knowingly and forgive me for being disappointed in all 40 million of you. Your decision really hurt this country for sure, but hopefully that changes in the future.

They should have done this with The Capital on Jan 6th. When it was actually needed.
