http://www.chicagotribune.com/sport...cago-bulls-luol-deng-20130910,0,2724890.story Deng has a history with Chris Finch (British national team). But I don't think the MLE is enough to luol him to Houston.
Errr don't want him at the price he will command. Would much rather a delfino/ cassipi on a much friendlier contract who outperforms the contract.
S+T Asik for Deng at $9mill for 4 yrs. You guys remember what the two headed defensive beast of Artest and Battier did? Can you imagine Parsons + Deng with Dwight down low?
He'll probably get traded. Bulls need to make some changes to contend. I like Deng, but am I the only one who think he's going to drop off within a year or two? I don't see how his body can sustain such wear and tear. I mean, he's 28 years old, and plays a ton of minutes, usually being the 2nd offensive option and guarding the opposing team's best player. That's a lot. I'm sure he'll get overpaid by someone to start, but I'd be shocked if he's the same caliber player in the near future (that's not to say he'll be bad, but I'm expecting a big dropoff).
He will not get less than what he is getting right now. I think he is better than Iguodala offensively. They might look similar but he was with a team that is horrible offensively and Thibodeau's offensive system certainly doesn't help.
I'd love to see what Deng was being offered by the Bulls to extend. I hope he realizes who he's going to be competing with in the free agent market next Summer. Lets say Luol gets a bum knee, or has some lack-luster play... he could then be looking at a much, much lower salary... maybe as low as the mid-level area. If the Bulls were looking at offering him 9-10 mil+ for 4 years, he'd be a fool NOT to take that now.
Deng shot .412 and .426 in the past two seasons. His offense has regressed under Thibodeau despite of being named an all-star and I don't think he will get another contract worth more than $10 mil per year.
His fg percentage doesn't tell much about him. The guy not only plays the most minutes in his team but I think in the NBA. The guy is forced to guard the opposing teams best player every night unless they play C. The guys team, offensively, wasn't great therefore he had to force some shots and teams cracked down on him more than usual. He is a better player than Iggy and Iggy got a great contract for what he is. Also, wasn't he playing with a bad wrist?
I think that has a lot to do with what they are willing to pay him. Teams have to be careful not to overpay Deng and kill their flexibility. I have a feeling Deng's worth on the open market will put him out of the price range of contenders.
so if we got Sergio Lull to come over and got Deng... we could see passes from Lull to Luol.... jus sayin.... sorry for the distraction... i'll shutup now.... lol
