hes a good passer in the motion offense though, offense isnt just about making your shots.

1 star for a recycled bad thread. Hayes' value goes beyond the offense, if you don't appreciate chuck's game it's perhaps because you play too many videogames or too much Sportscenter.

He is a flawed player that fits our team perfectly. I for one, respect his game tremendously while acknowledging he is not in any way or manner a scorer.

He's got pretty good accuracy on that pass, I agree. He's also good at passing off the rebound, both on the offensive end and the defensive end. He does some other things as well. Good offensive rebounder. Good screener.

But he can't pass well off the dribble (he can't dribble well, period). And he's not secure with the ball when he gets crowded either.

You got specific situation right, but not limited time. I guarantee you teams around the league are taking note of Haye's ability to guard guys bigger than himself effectively. He'll always have a (small contract) role in this league, even as a 12th man.

He just plays hard and smart. On the offensive end he is very lmited, true, but then so should his playing time on a good team.

No matter if he can stop the opponent every trip down (which does not happen), we are playing 4 on 5 every time we go on offense. I just don't understand how can that be a plus for the team.

with all his wonderful work enthics. I always wonder why he cant learn to shoot.

Shooting is just a matter of repetition. He will never be a good shooter, but a decent shooter of say 30% at the baseline 15ft. He be so much better.

I wonder how some members here are even intelligent enough to find the internet much less log on to this site and start new threads. I also wonder if their stupidity is compartmentalized or if they are morons in all aspects of their lives.

Chuck Hayes plays his role well. If he was so bad he would not continue to log big minutes when this team already has a great Center and two very good Power Forwards. Not too mention plenty of "tall" guys who can jump real high who are chomping at the bit to get on an NBA roster.

Hayes is an excellent defender. We need him against great pfs. Right now, he is our back up center, so we cant let him go like that.

I'll explain it to you. We aren't actually "playing 4 on 5 every time we go on offense." That's you exaggerating.

It's like me saying: "How can Aaron Brooks be a plus for our team when we're basically playing 4 on 5 on defense?" Good teams know how to mask the deficiencies of individual players and accentuate their strengths.

I would keep him for now, we need to get rid of Head, and SF3, and Dorsey, if he is really not ready, then put him in NBDL

I don't know how this thread even eventuates. He clearly does a good job 80% of the time shutting down the opposing star PF's. I remember one time last season Bosh came into one game averaging something like 30 pts over a 6 game period and Hayes completely ripped him to shreads he scored like 12 or some thing. We need him for specific situations and for what we are paying him its a good price. Its like complaining that doesn't make sense, his not getting paid craps loads. His getting paid the bare minimum as it is

    YOUR KIDDING ME?
Hayes is the best defender on the Roster, even better than artest. He can guard any player in the frontcourt. He has a cheap salary. He never gets hurt (knock on wood), and he is VITAL at the end of games when teams go small to get 3's. I would get rid of Barry, Head, Rafer, Scola, and Von Wafer before I get rid of Chuck.
Obviously you dont pay attention to the entire game and see what he brings to the table. I aint saying he's the man, but he is a very important role player. Get rid of him and our PF and C defense lies on Scola and Landry.

not many pple know jack **** about how ****in good chuck hayes is. each year he improves his game, EACH YEAR. hes the shortest pf unless theres one thats 6'5 which there isnt. he crashes the glass like hes 7ft. he has a very good all around defensive game, specially for his size. can defend 3-5 spots. he make those layups around the rim most of the time. his offense sucks but his defense is top 20/30 compared to forwards. who cares if hes short, hes doesnt lose games for us.

before this season we relied on him too much, but now w/ landry and scola better than last year, shane and ron switching off at the 4 later on in the season, yao ming playin 70+ games, hayes' offensive liability is not a problem, only becuse hes rediculously good at defense.

our big 3 can pass the ball out a double team. if they pass to hayes, then hayes can pass to the person next to him at the 3pt line then we get an open 3.

STOP HATIN ON MIDGETS!!! recognize how good hayes is before you talk out ya ass

Except for the fact that we aren't. Have you seen someone get doubled off of Hayes ever this season? They might try it once and then Hayes finds a spot right around the basket and scores. In fact, usually Hayes does the pick and roll with guys like Brooks/Tmac... and the defender usually goes back to pick up Hayes because he's dangerous if you leave him open under the basket.

The fact that we have Landry and Scola, both great offensive PFs in their own right, and Hayes is getting minutes? That should tell you something about what he offers to the team.

The solution isn't trade Hayes, Hayes wouldn't fetch anyone worth a damn anyway. The solution (if there is a problem, which there isn't) is play Scola and Landry more.

Obviously you don't pay attention for you to say the team needs to get rid of Rafer. This team is lost without Rafer and doesn't know where 2 stand at times. Rafer may be horrible at times when shooting the ball but he knows how to set up the offense
