Man this brings back memories of the Space Shuttle Challenger. I remember being in school when the Challenger exploded. This is so sad. The most eerie part was when an official came out and said "They're gone".
What a horrible, horrible day. It's so depressing when something like this happens to anyone. I'm a Christian, but I often have trouble with my faith in situations like this. Cod
These were all Houston residents as well I'm guessing.. most astronauts do live in Houston throughout the year? Or are they not involved in training in Houston all year long..
with the 7th one I assume being the one from Israeli... not that it makes any difference where they live.. but it hits even closer to home when they are residents of your city.. and the fact that those memorial services may be occuring in Houston
there's probably going to be a memorial service at Johnson Space Center sunday.. the day that the welcome home party was scheduled.
Can CBS fire Dan Rather? He is the worst anchor. His crocodile tears gets on my nerves. No wonder CBS News is last in ratings.
Apparently, this was primarily a mission to conduct scientific research including several animals on board. What a sad day for the world.
WTF does that have to do with anything? He was a longtime Houston newsman, has a house on Lake Travis, and if he feels like crying after such a terrible tragedy, then why should you care? He's probably been doing the news twice as long as you've been alive. Chump. My heart goes out to the families and the larger NASA family. RIP.
And, WTF does having a house on Lake Travis have to do with journalistic talent? New York Times tv critic and every other tv critic said that Dan fakes his tears after every tragedy. He is not suited for television news. America obviously agrees, as CBS News is way out in last place. BTW, the reason that I am posting this here is that I didn't want to create a new thread. I know that creating new threads are frowned upon.
I have a good friend that lives in downtown Nacogdoches. He just emailed me some photos of a shuttle piece he found in a football field across from his street. This is crazy.
(Another slightly off topic. But, I didn't want to create a new thread.) Why not privatize the space program, to provide funds that the space program so desperately needs? A former astronaut on FOX News said today that the space program should be privatized. I think that this is a great idea. Why not let the big companies sponsor space programs, providing much needed money and funds. It's obvious that the NASA needs money. All the equipment and schematics at NASA are very old. I think some of the computer systems were (are?) the equivalent of an ibm xt with 64k memory! NASA needs money to modernize. The former astronaut said that Bill Gates was intrested in having the space program privatized. It would better if Microsoft and other big companies provide the money that the space program so desperately needs.
That's already happening w/o the privatization. I think there is a Mars mission scheduled that was partially funded by Coporations, who no doubt have billboard space.
