He scored 30 points and his team got blown out. Would any of us care if McGrady did that? No. So why should we be impressed when Carter does it?
For the record I do want a trade. Just not with the players that are being mentioned. Again, Caron Butler or Richard Jefferson. And I don't mind throwin in Nate 'the great' Robinson for an upgrade at PG.
I don't necessarily agree with the whole opening post, but I certainly agree with the premise. (EDIT: this comment made sense when the thread was titled "one good game and now you dont want a trade," before it was merged...) It's just ridiculous how everyone begs for a trade, then we have one big-margin win over a mediocre team, and all of a sudden all these supposed voices of reason start threads to go on a tirade about how wrong everyone was to ever want a trade. Give me a break. Can we get a little perspective in the house, please? Even a little bit? Such that we're not a "championship-caliber team" every time we beat the Thunder and "in big trouble" when we lose to the Celtics? My head's going to explode. I haven't spent this much time in the GARM in one day in a very long time, and now I remember why.
Because his team was awful tonight, and it wasn't his fault. They were missing shots all over the place. At the end of the 3rd quarter, excluding Vince, the Nets shot 28% from the floor... Can't really blame Vince for that.
I've been against an artest deal unless it was for a star caliber player from the beginning. in fact, considering the caliber of player ron is on both ends, it's quite arguable he's more valuable than vince carter. since the team can't get amare, i'd rather stay put with ron. plus they can't count on mcgrady at this time. I'll be pissed off if Artest gets dealt for bit pieces like hinrich or mike miller because the team is afraid of losing him for nothing.
Artest came out at the early stages of the 4th quarter with a 90-72 rockets lead. the rest of the game was up to the bench, so 18 points in 3 quarters of work is quite fine.
You can use these things called 'periods' to break up your point into smaller, more manageable points.
I could live with a direct Artest-VC swap if it were possible, but I don't want to see Landry or Scola traded along with Ron for him.
Interesting that you bemoan Carter as a 1-way player and say you want Amare, when it doesn't get any more 1-way than Amare. Eh... Artest is definitely better than both those guys, but we sorely need a consistent PG. Hinrich isn't fantastic, but he's an upgrade over Rafer and he can play some minutes at the 2 to boot. Meanwhile, Miller can at least complement our stars with his shooting.
i want a tracy for vince swap...new jersey's counter offer was ridiculous. no way on God's beautiful green earth do you give up ron, shane, and landry, and even head for that matter in the same deal unless youre getting a couple good players in return. they want 3 guys who could start for the nets...way too much
I'd still swap TMac for Carter in a heartbeat. This board has never been united about what we'd give up to dump TMac. That being said, Rocket River's thread about standing pat makes a lot of sense to me.
as stated in this thread - you still have $20m sitting on the bench pouting. so if you can turn that contract into something productive before the deadline I think it's in your best interest.
If, hypothetically, you're an insider who knows for certain that Artest will leave for nothing, then you think about it.
