    Also, you stated:

"There has to be SOME regulation of firearms. I'm sick of this faulty lagic that criminals will aquire them illegally anyway, so why bother regulating them, you harm the "law abiding citizens"

There is PLENTY of regulation of firearms. You can't even buy a new one without jumping through a dozen different hoops. Maybe the existing policies should be enforced by our oh-so-well-trained LEOs, rather than having them go after high cap mags that only they think they should be able to have, or dumb crap like bayonet lugs.

I will say this - I would be for requiring an FBI bground check to purchase USED guns at gunshows as well - not just for new ones. This is one area where I think the law has not been covered.

A Tec-9 with huge cap mag does not just look scary--it is a dangerous, worthless weapon used for killing and has no place in our society, period.

yes shotguns kill folks--at least you can HUNT with them, they have a purpose!

So, with your logic, who is the federal government to say that you can't have a Handgrenade?

I mean, maybe I'm not Wyatt Earp and I need the fragmentation of a handgrenade to hit multiple, drug crazed targets as they storm my whitbread, middle-class neighborhood.

I mean, why should law abiding citizens be told that they CAN'T have one? Criminals will get them illegally and we, as "law abiding citizens", need hangrenades to stop this unslaught.

Please, understand that I'm not for a COSMETIC BAN ON RIFLES!! How many times do I need to tell you that?? If you cannot concede that far more crime is commited with handguns than any other weapon combined and that they should have strict regulation, then lets agree to disagree!

Good idea about background checks for used handguns--but that is already in place. Used or not, you can't walk out of a Gun show with a used handgun you purchased on the spot. I'll consult the friggin ENCYCLOPEDIA BRITTANICA that the Government sends me every year for being an FFL holder an double check...

Fine, but don't buy one if you don't like them. Don't take away someone's option to defend themselves over your fear of guns. A gun is a tool and in the wrong hands, even a simple ax can do major damage to other people. I know you're comfortable with only the government (bad) and criminals possessing firearms, but maybe I and many others are not.
That is a diversionary tactic. Of course hand grenades and machine guns are and should be banned. But semi-automatic rifles? No.
By regulating a thing, the govt. has a way to step in and take away a thing. I know you think that taking away all of the guns in this country will be a magic salve for all of our ills, but I've got sour news for you: it will not. We live in a violent society and taking away a law-abiding citizen's right to self-protection is not going to make this society any less violent.

This is not "my logic" or anything the federal government can do or not do. The Constitution allows us to bear "firearms" which almost anyone would take to mean rifles & pistols. It doesn't explicitly state that we can own bombs.

And before you say "well, then why not a full fledged machine gun if rifles & pistols are okay?" - well I got you covered. You can already owna fully automatic weapon if you have a Class III license and don't mind paying heavy taxes on it, and maybe an occasional visit by an ATF agent.

    Wow...It's over...

I think I celebrated too much yesterday. This morning, I have just ordered several magazines from both Bushmaster and Wilson Combat...Price? Under $20.00, not bad...

I also ordered a Bushmaster M4A3 for $1000.00, not bad either...It will come with 1 30 round mag, telescoping stock, flashhider, bayonet lug, and removable carry handle...The only thing is it will take 4 to 6 weeks till arrival...Just 1 1/2 days ago, this was only available for law enforcement...I am excited and can't wait!!!...

I already have a standard Bushmaster lower, and on my next check, I will order the 20" upper with flashhider, lug, so it will look just like an M16A2, but I will also have tritium night sights installed on the sights...

As far as my Glock 31 in .357 sig (same round they issue to protect the President), I will order several 15 round mags...

These 3 things highlight the plans I have which the ban sunset has encouraged...for now ;)

Now, wouldabeen23, I have not ignored your questions, but I wanted to choose my words carefully...tec 9's and Mac 10's are weapons I personally have no regard for...They are not what I would pay even cheap money for...I honestly could care less is the manufacturer wanted to drop them, In my opinion, they are crap, poorly made, and a poor choice compared to better alternatives...But, targeting certain firearms is an aspect I'm against, because of what I have been through as a gun enthusiast...

    BAMMASLAMMER.....

Find a post where I said that all guns should be taken away and only held by the government--I've tried to find middle ground with you, but that seems to be to far left for you.

I LIKE firearms, I own them, I shoot every weekend, I hunt every fall, I have a personal collection over 20(including assualt rifles, (a CETME and 2 SKS's) and I'm an FFL holder. Please, stop with the big-brother NRA rhetoric, it's tiresome and predicitable.

    RORAN-

Glad you are all set, have a blast at the range and enjoy the new Bushmaster--they are the best deal out there. The Colts and AR's are to expensive; I plan on eventually getting a Bushmaster model as well.

Glad that you agree somewhat with me--I know we have many differences on gun control and use...

I thought this was newsworthy. From Reuters:

Schwarzenegger Bans Rifle in Support of Gun Control
    Tue Sep 14, 2004 03:37 PM ET

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Breaking with Republican lawmakers who oppose gun control and a Hollywood film career filled with gun play, California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has signed a bill banning .50-caliber BMG rifles, an aide said on Tuesday.
The large-caliber, high-powered rifle is used by the military and police to shoot at long-range targets, including ones more than a mile away.

Civilian owners of the weapon typically use the rifle at firing-ranges and for big-game hunting, but with armor-piercing ammunition the rifle can penetrate concrete shelters and lightly armored vehicles.

Critics of the rifle argue there is no reasonable civilian use for the weapon. They say it could be used by terrorists to shoot at oil refineries and airplanes, or by snipers against people. Gun rights advocates maintain the weapon has not been used in a crime in California.

Despite his gun-toting film career, Schwarzenegger is in favor of some gun controls, including the 10-year federal ban that expired on Monday on certain semiautomatic firearms known as "assault weapons," said his spokeswoman Terri Carbaugh.

"He's committed to keeping the public and law enforcement as safe as possible," said Carbaugh. "This lines up with his philosophy that reasonable gun control measures are necessary to accomplish that objective."

John Kerry proudly waves an 'assault weapon' which was given to him at a rally in Racine, WV. The gun would be banned if Kerry gets his way, and like other assault weapons, was responsible for ZERO deaths in the War on Terror.

Box cutters, which will not be banned in the Assault Weapons ban, which were the weapon of choice in the deadliest day in American history.

Forget the .357 sig,...Way too expensive for the practice ammo, much less the self-defense ammo...(I should have known this)

8 rounds of potent .45 ammo is enough...I need to stick to my advice and only keep the .45...I already have (2) 1911 types, and I plan on getting at least one more...This is the one round, where even hardball FMJ is quite potent...

Much more accurate than the wimpy 9mm...to me...and not that expensive either...

As much as I try to be allured to others, nothing beats the staple of:
1.) A high quality defensive shotgun, 2.) An AR15 type rifle/carbine, and 3.) An upper class 1911 type pistol
