Aso's teammate Chris Johnson is probably to be had. He had two solid seasons in 2008 and 2009 but hasn't played much this season because Stanford Routt has been starting. He probably wouldn't require more than a 4th or 5th round pick. Texans have a trade chip in Steve Slaton. He probably won't be bring you much but they are some teams out there that need a RB like the Packers so maybe you can workout a three way deal or something.

Agree 100%. At some point we have to stop worrying about 3 or 4 years down the line and start worrying about NOW.

Agree on this too. Why should we worry about keeping anyone who is a part of the worst secondary in the history of the NFL? He can't cover anyone and for all his amazing tackling abilities, he got knocked on his ass several times yesterday just like everyone else.

Saying "**** you, mother ****er!!" on TV doesn't necessarily mean you're a great safety.

Hell, I'd bench Amobi before I'd bench Shaun Cody. Amobi is AWFUL. Time to call a spade a spade. Guy is a complete bust. I know he's young and intelligent, but he's a horrible football player.

I don't think there's ANY WAY we even go after Haynesworth. McNair only likes boy scouts on his team.

I have not seen a whole lot of Johnson but how much can he really help this secondary? I would been an upgrade over Kareem Jackson at this point but I don't want to make a move that doesn't do a whole lot for us. I am really asking on Johnson because it sounds like you know way more about him then I do.

Yeah, Pollard is really bad in coverage. I like the fact he is a big hitter, and love him for the attitude he brought to the team, but our defense is hideous. The only guy in our secondary that I consider a no brainer to resign is Quinn.

Amobi does suck. You're right on Cody. Admittedly, I'd like to give him one last chance with an addition like Haynesworth but I can certainly acknowledge he's been a complete bust. His comments about motivation in them media told me a whole lot about why he has not improved.

I hate that about McNair and I will always criticze him for it. This is the NFL not ice skating.

If I'm Rick Smith, I'm on the phone with Oakland right now offering up 2011 first round pick, 2012 first round pick, 2011 third round pick, and possibly Jacoby Jones for Nnamdi Asomugha and Richard Seymour. It might seem like a lot, but we ALREADY have the youngest team in the NFL....what's the point of bringing in MORE youth.

This team, as built, has a Super Bowl offense, and a Gutter Bowl defense. If they don't at least get to average, it's going to cost us the playoffs. But if you bring in comparable players to ones I listed, this team has a CHANCE to do big things this season. Let's get it done Texans!

agreed. the offense is ready to roll. you owe it to them to try...especially to a guy like AJ.

yep. they have to at least try and get an upgrade. anything is better than what we have in the secondary. year after year, the secondary is our weakness and yet here we are again, years later with the same crappy secondary.

I'm all for this. Anyone on this board who thinks this team as constructed will do anything in the playoffs if they can even make it in is insane. This defense simply isn't good enough to be a difference maker.

As someone else mentioned, McNair owes it to guys like AJ and Mario to make a serious push to get over the hill. If possible, bringing in Seymour and Nnamdi would make the defense stout enough to make plenty of noise in the playoffs. Hell, maybe even having some of the pressure to produce lifted from the shoulders of Okoye and KJ would make them worthy defenders.

Yes, rikesh316... please give us some notes on Chris Johnson. I'm intrigued. It's hard to find a scouting report on CB Chris Johnson. Everything that comes up on google is for some scrub RB that plays for Tennessee (I didn't know they had a pro team?).

not to mention if we did get Aso, at least he could teach KJ the ropes. I haven't given up on KJ yet but he's on pace to be a bust and it really is managements fault. You don't draft a CB and expect him to go up against elite nfl receivers right off the bat. 9 times outta 10 he's gonna get burned.

I agree with you on the mentor aspect of it all. I am getting worried that KJ is going to end up like Carr in that he will get the "good player" beat out of him. This is a topic for another thread but I think Carr could have been a decent QB if not for the ass kickings he took and lack of coaching. I fear KJ will follow the same path, get the crap beat out of him every game so much that it will kill his confidence and never improve.

Not a Jet fan or Antonio Cromartie fan but the Jets made the smart move trading for this guy and quickly realizing Wilson wasn't good enough to start so instead made him a nickel to gain experience. I don't blame the Texans for drafting KJ and letting DRob go but rather not making a better effort of acquiring a veteran corner to replace the experience lost. Now is the time to makeup for that mistake!

I am no Chris Johnson expert as I only watch the Raiders mainly when they face the Texans. Johnson is no stud or lockdown CB but I think he would be a upgrade over Brice McCain. He is real fast, a veteren, doesn't make a ton of money, and probably could be a had for a late round pick. The NFL trade deadline is nothing like the MLB or NBA trade deadline. Guys like Albert and Nnamdi rarely get traded. The Packers traded for Anthony Smith last night. That is the type of trade you should expect during the NFL deadline.

A lot!? Even Oakland GM on drugs would laugh in Rick Smith's face for that ridiculously low offer. Not to mention Oakland just got Reymour for their HIGH 1st round pick, which if you follow NFL trades is generally worth two middle to low picks the Texans will likely have should this trade goes down. So on face alone he can't possibly do that deal. And I must say I LOLed that you "possibly include Jacoby Jones", like Oakland needs more speedsters with bad hands.

Now, I know that plenty of great players get traded for seemingly little in terms of picks. But that has always been due to certain problems either with contracts, injuries, or off the court problems. Seymour and Asomugha both have zero problems I'm aware of. Nor are the Raiders in salary cap hell. These two players aren't on the market pennies on the dollar. They have FULL trade value. And that value is much higher than future low 1st rounder each plus some fillers.

Unless the front office thinks we are still building a core, they need to be shopping those picks right now. We have enough young talent.

I would trade a 2011 3rd round pick and 2012 1st round pick for Aso........then I would trade 2011 4th round pick for FS Michael Huff..........Then I would knock on the door of Bill Cowher every morning until he comes aboard and make Kubiak Offensive Coordinator,,,,,,,,,,Then I would go offer Will Muschamp the job for Defensive Coordinator.........Bottom line we all have a fantasy on how to fix the problem when its not your problem to fix................and oh yeah I knew the defense would be worse when Cushing got back.......now we getting slaughtered against the run........

They aren't gonna trade for anyone.....and they aren't gonna fire anyone.

They are in first place. They haven't played well defensively (understatement of the year) but the season starts NOW.

3 way tie for 1st (we hold the current tiebreaker)...McNair is a happy guy believe it or not.

If the defense doesn't right the ship in the next 4 weeks, and we fall out of the playoff hunt, Bush will be replaced at year's end...and probably not a moment before.

Truth is, the worst case scenario is that we don't improve on D and still make the playoffs (which is the direction we are heading)...bc then there will be less reason to make a change and improve going into next season.

Hey T-Slack, looks like you have a contender for stupidest TAD (Texans, Astros, Dynamo) post of the year.

The Jets traded for Cromartie before they drafted Kyle Wilson. In the Texans defense, they did go after Leigh Bodden but he chose to re-sign for the Pats. I don't think they were any other CBs out there but I could be wrong. They were a lot of teams looking for DBs but they weren't out there. The Ravens had so many injuries at CB it was comical. They had to settle for Josh Wilson. From seeing KJ getting interviewed a few times, I like his attitude and demeanor. As good as Nnamdi Asomugha is right now you have to remember he only started one game his rookie season and the next season they thought he was slow so they moved to safety.
