Good sign of LB health if they cut Nixon right? Do they think they can find someone better off the street that they didn't look at already?

    nope

they should have traded picks for haynesworth, aso, merriman, then signed shobel.

they could have loaded this defense up..but havent

they are rebuilding through draft even if it means losing seasons

they are not in win now mode. i thought they were..

either mcnair is really cheap,or rick smith is really stupid for not trading picks for aso, or maybe mcnair has made up his mind and will hire cowher this winter therefore wont trade away picks because the new coach likes to pick his own players

they had a chance to go somewhere this year, im against trading picks for aso but i have to admit it would have help some and maybe brought playoffs.

kubiak/mcnair/smith either are to stupid to know aso is that good or maybe they are cheap or maybe they already know they are goners.

ive heard kubes talk about aso and say he is the best...then why not trade 1's to get him?

either mcnair or smith has stopped this trade...it seems kubes loves aso

lets say that mcnair has privately had a convo with cowher about improving this D and being a head coach if kubiak fails, and cowher says "sure im very interested" then thats why mcnair is playing hardball with shobel/aso/haynesworth because deep down mcnair wants to clean house...thats my theory

either that or mcnair is one cheapass

He basically reiterated what we have said at one time or another but it's like a pitcher with control problems, eventually after missing the strikezone so often the ump won't give you the benefit of the doubt on a reasonably located pitch. ;)

    Yep...I think ya got him

    1. Spent $700 Million to bring an NFL team to Houston.
    2. Donated $100 Million to Baylor College of Medicine.
    3. Countless other donations (in the tens of millions)...like to University of South Carolina $25 million....
    4. He doesn't have the highest payroll, but he's paying the guys who deserve it (our stars). (AJ's new contract etc....)

All that from a guy who:

This is the NFL...not the NBA....trades don't happen that frequently. Plus, most likely the Raiders didn't even want to part way's with Aso for anything reasonable...they denied it IIRC after Adam's tweet.

So anyone not posing as a psychic have an idea about the lb situation? Adibi is weakside and diles' time in the middle kind of sucked. Angerer in Indy did well enough calling the shots so maybe the task goes to sharpton?

I really don't know. I like Sharpton a lot but i'm not sure if they want to put a rookie out there. Bentley seems like the safe route. They just need to get healthy.

Wasnt brian chapman the one that said in the Texans vs Chiefs game thread, that ontop of berating Matt Schaub and calling Matt Cassel superior, he also said Cassel had the nicest ass and abs in the NFL?

That article doesnt matter, people will continue to ignore the fact that he wasn't available and keep blasting McNair and Smith for somehow not obtaining him. Even before this article came out, it was obvious that the Schefter report was false. Schefter is as legit as they come to breaking news but the last 3 years he's reported the Raiders are firesailing when year after year they don't trade anyone away (surprise! this year was no different). Infact they have been bringing people in..Richard Seymour, Jason Campbell. Too often around here, people's fantasies turn into delusional thoughts that then turn into a b****fest

real talk...big trades rarely happen at deadlines in the NFL....but we should have addressed these problems during the FA period....especially the secondary

yes. He is a joke. I'm still amazed people actually try to have dialogue with him...other than to get a good laugh (at his expense)

I think they're probably going to give the Mike spot to Bentley right now, but put Sharpton on the fast track to learning the ins and outs of the position. Sharpton has shown that he has the talent to play in the league, he's just gotta learn the tricks of the trade.

And, the Chronicle article aside, I'm kinda getting tired of people saying trades DON'T happen in the NFL. Antonio Cromartie, Brandon Marshall, Marshawn Lynch, Santonio Holmes, and Randy Moss are ALL players who were traded at some point this season. Sure, they weren't traded at 2:55 pm at the trade deadline, but teams acquired all of these players, and they have ALL made a difference for their new teams. I'm not saying the Texans SHOULD have made a trade....I'm just saying it would be nice to know that they were at least out there looking. With the Rockets, even if the deal doesn't get done, at least you know Morey is out there putting his ass on the line trying to get something done.....with the Texans, the fanbase is constantly kept wondering what it is the front office is actually doing.

I'm with you ...But I think that in the NFL , draft picks are more essential to building a franchise than the NBA....In the NBA, after your top 5 picks, maybe you get a future franchise player,MAYBE........You can win with one great player........In the NFL, high draft picks are generally boom or bust........even deep into the 3rd round, you still looking for impact players....Thats why its hard for McNair to give up 1st and 2nd round picks for the "Randy Moss's and Aso's".....They seem to value NFL picks more than any other sport.....For the record its complete and utter bull****!!!!! The Texans just dont wanna take on big contracts for 30 year old players...They should just admit it .......

trades do happen but they are more rare.

as for the part about the texans trying...this is brought up a lot but in reality we don't know what phone calls were made and front offices wouldnt come out and say "yeah, we called X team for Y player but we got turned down".

I understand that, but at the same time, I feel like this organization isn't even OPEN to trade discussions. I know that we don't know what's being said behind closed doors, but you would think that the front office would at least come out and say "Look, we tried....it didn't work out, but you can't fault us for giving it a shot." I think that's all, as fans, that we want. We want to know that our front office is doing everything they can to put the best product on the field. I get that their job is to ALSO be financially responsible to Bob McNair, but I think that takes care of itself when you're winning. The fans have been VERY good to this team....I just think it's time that they take care of us in return now.

You feel like that for many reasons, none of which have anything to do with what the front office is or isnt doing.

And no, i don't want a front office put out a press release saying what you described above. That seems quite silly.

If you want to hear that the organization is trying then just listen, they constantly talk about it in cliche terms.
