I wonder if the Texans have had thoughts about trading Rashad Butler. I thought he played fairly well when Duane Brown was out the last 4 weeks. He went against 3 players who are having Pro-Bowl seasons in DeMarcus Ware, Justin Tuck, and Tamba Hali. Teams like the Packers and Bears have terrible tackles and could use someone like Butler. I doubt the Texans can re-sign him this offseason because he is about to get paid starter type money from team in the offseason.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Butler the first guy off the bench for our O-Line? I think we would really be handcuffing ourselves if any of our O-lineman go down later in the season. But, with as bad as this defense is, I'd consider trading just about anybody who isn't associated with our core group of players.

The only reason he would get starter money is if another team over values him and pays too much. Trading him wouldn't get much. The NFL is a lot different than other sports. Great plyers bring 1-2 round pick, a good player can only get a 3-4 round pick in return. He would only bring a 5-6 round pick. Not enough to trade a very serviceable backup. If he gets big money in FA, you move on a find another swing tackle!

Replacing an olineman IMO won't be too hard. Rather plug some gaping holes than stockpile insurance. I'd rather plug holes that exist, not worry about holes that may appear. We don't have that luxury.

Left tackle is probably the most premium position in the league besides QB ... corner is up there too. You don't just replace decent left tackles, so I would say that it actually would be pretty hard. We've been grooming Butler since 2007, when he was signed as a project player after being a roster casualty.

If we can get a legit starting corner for him, I might do it. I'm not trading him for a 3rd or 4th round pick or a 1 year linebacker replacement, though.

It's a moot point anyway. It's too difficult to trade players in the NFL during season ... by the time they get in sync with the new system/playbook, players usually aren't worth what you gave up for them.

Some teams is going be so impressed how he played these last 4 games and sign him to be a starter and pay him like one. They are many teams out there with the either a terrible left and/or right tackle where Butler would be a upgrade. I think Butler is a starting caliber left or right tackle.

40 minutes to go, my bold prediction is that SS is done as a Texan within the hour.

The NFL trade deadine never produces big trades. The Moss trade was big somewhat but the last big deal I remember was Booger McFarland being dealt to the Colts and them winning the Super Bowl that year.

How do you know they are available? At what price? Half of the teams in the league are at .500 yet there hasn't been a single trade today.

    Just speculation....

    http://atlanta.sbnation.com/atlanta...uston-texans-are-in-linebacker-market-falcons

NFL Trade Deadline: Houston Texans Are In Linebacker Market; Falcons Have Some LB DepthAfter losing LB DeMeco Ryans for the season, the Texans are looking for linebackers.

Outside linebacker is one unit at which the Falcons enjoy a little bit of depth, with Mike Peterson, Sean Weatherspoon, and Stephen Nicholas all thought of as starter quality by the team’s coaching staff. Not that any of those three are going to be traded.

Backups Coy Wire and Spencer Adkins could be considered. Wire is one of the Falcons’ primary special teams leaders, earning a captaincy last year, so he's almost certainly staying put. Adkins hasn’t contributed a whole lot, making only four career tackles and generally being considered a long-term project.

The Falcons are going to be wary of letting any players go for future draft picks, as they believe this team is built to compete right now. But if they’re not using Adkins anyway…

Plus, the Falcons and Texans have done business before. Maybe Spencer Adkins for a decent draft pick can be thought of as a thank you for the great Matt Schaub gifting?

Matt Schaub gifting? Shouldn't Falcons fans know that Rick Smith was fleeced on that deal, per certain posters here? ;)
