There isn't another first world country in the world that has a worse firearm culture than the USA. It is just terrible. So many people die from it every year, our kids are afraid to go to school.... officers are afraid they will get shot because there are so many firearms... citizens are being killed by cops.. Just absolutely terrible.

Not unless someone else was a life threatening threat such as pointing a gun at them. This is why things like this are so maddening. It’s basics gun safety you never even point a firearm at something unless you intend to shoot it. Yet you see so many cases of so called “reasonable” gun owners not following the most basic gun safety.
And the owner likely still would be dead. The LEO should be criticized and held responsible for getting the wrong address and not announcing themselves. That doesn’t mean the homeowner acted well either. just because someone shows up at your house doesn’t mean you should come out armed with lethal force. That case in Kansas City with the teen getting shot along with this case just shows why it’s a bad ideaz

More reason that people with guns should be required to take a gun test demonstrating proper use of a gun which includes how police will respond or others when you show your gun. Descalation training should also be a part of it.
