    Why?

I just can't believe this is happening ... AGAIN.

And Garner is being made to look silly. I'm terrified of how bad LaRussa would make him look if we get to the NLCS.

Garner has played the role of the passioniate but somewhat dumb manager to the T.

Take an underperforming team, put some fire in their bellies, and go on a run on adrenaline. Get to the point where your decisions matter, and they're all wrong.

Garner is not a great manager. He fired up the clubhouse. But his decisions weren't necessarily right. Now we're paying the price for those bad decisions.

Some managers can manage a clubhouse and make the right decisions. Some can do one or the other. Garner sure as hell can't make good decisions.

And the sad thing is, it's simple these days. Gone are the days when managers somehow had to intuit the right move. Now, you can freaking look at a sheet of paper and know what move has the best %'s in almost any given situation.

Garner prefers his "gut" to that sheet of paper. Garner is an idiot.

    Pitch Selection was Horrible.

Why would anybody throw inside on Furcal. They should have pitched him away.

Then, JD DRew who's been struggling all series gets a fat pitch.

Russ Springer Gave the game away.

Garner didn't make sense today...but I've liked his decisions in the past for the most part.

Looks like we're gonna have to clinch the series tomorrow...that's right, keep the hope alive.

In so many words yes...but also the game tying home run wasn't the best of pitches either and he shouldn't have been pitching to begin with...

I don't wan tto post in this thread anymore...it just makes me mad...now i have to wait till tomorrow.

Man, what if Everett had stolen 2nd base like the Braves runners seem to do nonstop? Berkman's big base knock would have tied the game and we'd still be sweating this one out.

Pulling Roger - man, I don't know. He had a good 5th inning, but he was not strong. If HE had given up the 3-run shot, we'd all be ripping Garner for that too.

Springer on the other hand ... plunking Furcal? T-E-R-R-I-B-L-E. Standing ovation on a 2-strike pitch and he nails him. Beyond stupid.

I don't expect Roy to dominate on short rest.

Tomorrow's going to be nail biter.

Starting pitching WINS in the postseason....not suspect bullpen players.

Springer...hitting FURCAL..WTF is that? Talk about a brain fart.

Why would you take Clemens out after he breezed through the 5th inning?

If Clemens did not ask to be taken out then Phil has blown his 2nd game in this series.

Taking out Oswalt after giving up ONE FRICKEN run the other night was unforgivable as well.

We still can get them tomorrow, and having Oswalt is huge...but the Astros are making this WAY harder than it has to be.

    DD

PS. My thread got locked, and it was about Phil Garner and his managerial moves in the series, and thus I thought deserved it's own thread....I guess the admins did not agree.

    :(

actually if Garner would have used his brain in the first place, Russ Springer wouldn't have been pitching to Drew

it would have been Lidge striking out Drew.

a very good point on clemens

I was in the minority in my opinion of clemens being pulled , which should have been a g ood thing for us.

However, I'm just not sold on the idea if clemens went out there if he would of shut them down again in the 6th....

And then springer........ sigh........ what else can you say about springer that hasn't already been said...... this guy shouldn't be in a ball game period.

Springer was awful. After that inning I screamed at the TV, "Why can't you just get out of one inning!"

(With a few expletives thrown in for good measure.)

Thank you. The odds are never good at stringing together a run of hits against a guy like Smoltz. On the other hand, Everett can steal a freaking base. Why not try to run? It's not like the guy behind the plate is lights out at throwing runners out.

I don't understand this. Garner got his ******* torn by Bobby Cox. Cox is the MVP of this series so far...because on pure baseball, the Astros have won hands down.

Well, you still have a shot at 1 out of 3. Unfortunately, it's the least important game of the 3.

Lidge shouldnt had to pitch in the 8th except Dan Micelli sucked Horse crap as usual.

Micelli is washed up. He sucks. He fell behind every player and was struggling bigtime.

We may as well bring back Aurelio "Senior Smokeless" Lopez.

Dude, you spelled Clemens with a T. "ClemenTs". T is no way near N or S... that's just wrong.

garner completely f***ked this series. he should have left oswalt in during game 2 and he should have left clemens in one more inning after he had his best inning since the 1st. garner has no ability to control himself when he sees something he wants. terrible management.
