Alright... its now Lidge vs. Smoltz for the game... this is the best pitching matchup in the series (by far), and it involves the two closers.

    Old-school baseball.

Lidge is like the 1986 Mike Scott. Just get him in there ... nice to get out of the jam.

But look out - we're about to face Smoltz. This isn't going to be fun. Make him pitch a lot in the 8th, fellas.

Lidge pitched brilliantly in that AB ... coming with the fastball inside to set up the slider for the K.

    Let's go offense!!!

So if Lidge's spot comes up in the bottom of the inning, Garner will probably pinch hit for him.. Then, who will pitch the 9th for the Astros?

Of course, since Smoltz is pitching, it probably won't be an issue.

Actually, this reminds me more of the Boston vs. Anaheim game 3... where Anaheim tied it up after being down 6-1 early, and it looked like Boston was gonna cruise to the sweep.

The Angels even had unhittable pitchers comin in (like Smoltz) in K-Rod.

But... we know how that game ended. ;)

If Lane does something great here, Joe Morgan is going to look like a moron for ripping Garner for the double switch.
