This is the type of win that can totally swing the momentum. We'll have to take it back from them on Saturday. Offense bears the brunt for this loss. 2 runs and 4 hits is unacceptable.
Rafael shouldn't have been playing in the first place. He should have already been in his cell just like every other normal person would have been. No one said it was gonna be a walk in the park. We can still close this out at home.
true.... offense..... and blame it on a lack of playoff experience on lidge's part no question lidge is a damn good pitcher... but.... the playoffs are a different ball game.....and that crowd got to lidge tonight. still though.... the offense just didn't come thru 4 hits..... 11 innings....
It's so frustrating watching this team in the playoffs. Year after year its subpar performances. How much non clutch hitting does it take to bench Biggio?
Big question is who starts game 4? I think roger will pitch regardless if the series is 2-1 in favor of us or in favor of the Braves.
well..... we'd better be prepared for a potential backs to the wall game for that game 4 if the playoffs getting to lidge is ANY indication of what the playoff pressure/braves will do to backe...... then I am truly terrified for game 4 regardless, we need clemens out there and not some scrub in hernandez, munro, etc pitching in game 4.
You know...this game went exactly like the Minn-NY game yesterday...had the chance to go for the jugular and couldn't do it...its like for some reason the whole team went away from the game plan they've been using for the past month. Instead of grinding out some runs, Biggio pulls back the bunt and tries to go for it all - comes up empty. Instead of riding your ace who's pitchin a good game, u yank 'em quick. Instead of going to Micelli or someone else in the 7th, they goto Lidge. Don't understand it.
the bats going completely silent, what a shocker. if oswalt had been left in either he gets out of it and lidge gets to pitch 2 innings or he doesn't and we don't have to throw our best reliever out there before the game is decided. such a depressing loss, and yet so predictable. i guess we'll just keep coming back to take our medicine year after year saying this year will be different. but it never is.
oh, and what does this bring our postseason blown save streak up to? 8? i know we've blown every save chance we've had since 1980 (which is just amazing when you actually think about it) but i'm not sure what it's up to.
why don't you not attack other posters. i'll assume that was a regrettable loss of self control due to the anger over the loss.
I just wish when Steve was traded to Orlando u went along with him! & yes im pretty pissed off if u cant tell BUT u sure as hell arnt helping
yep. i have no idea why we didn't bunt, whether it was biggio or garner who decided it. actually, i have no idea why we even tried to put the ball in play. hampton had thrown 6 straight balls, and they weren't even close, and the ball biggio swung at was ball 3. we should've just watched it until he walked him. not that beltran would've done anything but maybe bagwell could've. although to be fair to biggio, he hit the ball damn hard, but it had to go straight to the 3rd baseman.
Was this ending unbelievable, or was it unbelievable that the Astros won a game against the Braves that looked so good? I can't belive it. I couldn't believe it all the other times. Our batters (Biggio Berkman especially imo ) were just throwing away at bats - they looked completely useless out there. And now we give the ball to Backe (you think Lidge looked nervous out there...) All I can do is hope that our offense comes through, because even if Backe goes 7 giving up only a run - it won't matter if we get another offensive performance like that one tonight. What a run to get into the wildcard. What a first game. Please god make the ghosts of old Astros days stay away for this post season. Go Stros.
