Why couldn't they have at least given the Astros the late start yesterday?

If Houston was playing LA, they'd be getting all the prime-time games right now.

Its all about LA... both because they're on the west coast, and they give big ratings.

STL, Houston, and Atlanta are all relatively weak markets (especially STL).

Sorry about my ranting, I guess I got used to them playing in the evening almost every day during the regular season. I understand about the ratings and time zones.

Don't worry about it... and it looks like you may get your wish.

Cardinals are up by 4 going into the 9th...

I'm hoping the Cardinals are able to hold off the Dodgers becase the chances of rain for tomorrow's game increases with a later start. If the game starts late afternoon they should be able to get it in with no problem; the prime time start is a different story. A rain delay would allow Oswalt to start on 4 days rest; which under the circumstances would help significantely.

I have to imagine that if the threat rain is that serious later on, they'll arrange to start the game earlier then.

Remember... Fox does not want to have to have a game that competes with Red Sox-Yankees on Tuesday night. Hell... the way the sports world is looking at that matchup, that might as well be the freakin World Series.

does anyone think theres a chance at all that rocket could come back at pitch at all in relief tommorrow if necessary? Do or die time and I think you got to do whatever it takes to advance.

No, he barely got through 5 innings today. Lidge can give us at least 2 innings. Oswalt only through 88 pitches in his start, hopefully he can give us 7 innings.

I have a QUESTION!! Where's Hernadez & Munro? I mean I kno they arn't that good but did they not make the playoff roster? IF THEY DID HOW COME THEY CAN"T COME IN AND PITCH FOR US???? OUR BULLPEN ISN"T THAT GOOD AND THESE GUYS HAVE STARTER MATERIALS. CANT WE USED THEM AS SET-UP MAN??.. WHY DONT WE USE THEM IN THE GAME? ...... SO BASICALLY WE ARE EXPECTING TO GO THRU THIS PLAYOFF RIDING CLEMENS?OSWALTS & BACKE???

That would be crazy ... IF we win tomorrow and start BACKE on 3 day rest .. the back to CLEMENS? then OSWALTS AGAIN??? There's NO WAY WE CAN HANDLE THE CARDINALS, RED SOXS , YANKEES WITH THAT.....

Just wondering where's MUNRO & HERNADEZ?

It is only a 30% chance of rain which means it could be off and on ... They are going to do their damndest to get this game in.

rain delays are DEFINITELY in the favor of Atlanta as that puts much more emphasis on the bullpens. Roy couldn't handle more than one stoppage (if that) on 3 days rest.

I for one will hope for no rain delays

Right where they belong, in the dugout and not on the mound...you don't want to throw out munro because he's a average to mediocre starting pitcher who will almost for sure give up 3-4 runs whenever he pitches and as for hernandez, his arm strength was never good this season and an 88 mph fastball would be hit everytime if he pitched. Sending them out would be just as stupid as sending russ springer out...wait a minute..

if we go far enough (please oh please) we're gonna have to ride roy-o and roger and backe like crazy...

here's hoping we get a chance to see

I think if we win today, I think you start Backe in game 1. He didn't throw too many pitches and it seems like Garner only ever expects him to goo 5 or 6 innings anyway. You then throw Munro in Game 2. Hope he can keep you in the game. Then, throw Clemens on Game 3 (with travel days, etc, I would think this should be normal rest). Oswalt in Game 4 on normal rest. Backe in game 5 on normal rest now. Then Clemens and Oswalt on short rest in games 6/7 if needed.
