oh yeah and nick......the astros payroll is higher than the mets so if you wanna call the mets lineup a $100 million lineup.....then i'll call the astros lineup a $104 million dollar lineup even though you know good and well clemens makes about 20 mil and bagwell does too. reyes and wright make less than a mil combined
1. Yankees, $195 million. Red Sox, $120 million. angels $104 million. White Sox, $103 million. Astros, $104 million. Mets, $101 million. there you go nick....we both know that the astros LINEUP is not 104 million....clemens, oswalt, and pettite get a lot of that....just like with the mets. glavine, wagner, and pedro make up most of the payroll. delgado and beltran are about 27 then you got wright and reyes....so 28. shawn green is 10 i think. 38...look it up. you do that math.
Jesus...3 posts in a row of clarification. Looks like the Mets collapse is getting to you. The bottom line is, the Mets got SHUT DOWN by Jeff Suppan. ZERO runs... its not that hard to do that sort of math. We all know the Mets aren't going to pitch their way into the World Series... that much is evident with the fact that OLIVER PEREZ is going to be their game 4 starter, with Tom Glavine coming back on short rest (where he's been awful in his career) for game 5. But, to put up 6 runs one game agains the reigning cy young award winner... only to have the high priced closer blow it to a light-hitting backup OF, and then come back the next night and get dominated by a guy who's been average over his entire career... the Mets are making the Cardinals look really really good, and that's not saying a lot for the quality of that team. Face it... all the NL teams are flawed, including your precious Mets. The problem is, the Mets were supposed to be the favorites, and for each re-tread pitcher they trot out there, its becoming painfully obvious that the Mets hitters are playing more like the Cardinals did in 2005 (tight), while the Cards are relishing the underdog role like the Astros did.
seriously, what is up with this?? they're up 5-0 in the NLCS...getting an incredible performance out of suppan. and they're dead?? huh?? that was the worst playoff crowd i've ever seen in MLB, bar none. that was pathetic.
preach on preacher. how many times do we have to be reminded that, particularly in the playoffs, it's all about starting pitching??
Well, if you're quick, you can tune into the Sports Reporters to hear them talk about how great the St. Louis crowd is.
I'm rooting for the Cards.I think once they survived our run, they've nutted up and might very well win the World Series.
I think the same thing that's plaguing St. Louis is what was effecting the Rockets a couple of years back against Dallas (remember the constant complaints of the crowd not standing, not yelling, weak compared to the one in Dallas). First of all, St. Louis is a much older city... and the new stadium ticket holders are likely long-time fans who've seen it all, or simply people going to be seen. Astros fans were CRAVING a pennant... in the worst way. NY and Boston are always going to have the most vocal/chanting fans. But St. Louis, like the Rockets, has won several championships before, has won the pennant before, and are just not that into it (yet). I do remember back in 2000, when the Cards first made the playoffs again after 4 years, the city/crowds went nuts... perhaps St. Louis has become the new Atlanta.
yeah the mets are dead. i'll agree. we got bums like steve trachsel and oliver perez. i expect the same thing tonight, if not worse...im just sayin suppan did not shut down a 100million dollard lineup. get it straight nick acevedo. you were talking about game 3. everything you said about game 2 i'll agree with.
is it just me or is the st. louis crowd just filled with a bunch of old bags....i swear everyone is 60+ in the crowd
I'm actually looking forward to tonight's game 5... the pitchers given the extra day off due to rain actually get to pitch on NORMAL rest. It will be tough to live up to the last two years' game 5's, however: 2005 - Pujols off Lidge 2004 - Kent walk-off Also, with the "amazing" St. Louis crowd... you'd have to be careful to not fall asleep with the hush on the entire stadium, even if Weaver is throwing a no-hitter, and Pujols has 4 HR's.
Its a shame that the Pujols HR happened, overshadowing the Berkman 3 run HR to put us up. That may have been the most excited I've ever been during a game. That and the double-play in game 4, the Kent HR was pretty sweet also.
This NLCS is infuriating...to think that either of these teams will advance with the holes they have. Now I'm not saying the Astros were necessarily any more deserving especially with their inept offense. But damn, Oswalt, Pettite and Clemens (and even the bullpen) would have mowed these teams down.
I can't stand that little punk Jose Reyes, he thinks he is like the coolest guy ever to put on cleats. If I was on the mound, I don't think I could resist drilling him in the head. I wish the Mets would go back to sucking.
i hope thats a joke....reyes gets crunk...i like that smirk he gets when he's on first. he knows he can just take 2nd base
