He essentially did lose the game... by sucking so bad in games 2 and 6, Randolph was afraid to put him in there, and Heilman had to be counted on to pitch 2 innings (Heilman's stuff is no better than Russ Springers, if you want a comparison).
No one is giving the Cards a chance in the WS. did anyone really give them a chance in the NLDS or NLCS? i don't think they'll win the WS, but i also don't think they'll go down as easy as everyone is predicting.
Strike 3 curve was freaking nasty...geared up for the fastball & he got a huge bender on the outer black. Shoulda swung, but it was a great pitch by Wainright & the best he coulda done was foul it off. The one he should be seeing in his sleep for a few months is the first pitch middle of the plate fastball he Ensberged.
It's a great position to be in...the underdog role. Noone gives you a chance and you end up doing the unbelievable because you believe in yourselves and have an "us against the world" attitude. Sound familiar? It wouldn't surprise me if St. Louis pulled it out. I mean...hell...they weren't even supposed to be in the playoffs after their end-season collapse. Everyone was sort of counting them out and counting the Astros in. It should be the Astros going to the World Series again. That is what is so disappointing about this season. The sucky Astros failed to live up to expectations and they had all the same tools to do it but they failed on an individual level to perform.
