Enjoyable ending. Beltran strikes out to end the game with the bases loaded. Nice job ARod Jr.!

I could careless about the Cards, but the Cards winning makes my wife happy, and a happy wife makes a happy house.

Judging by being at the Mets games and Cards games this yr, stros fans hate Beltran more than the Cards.

I clap for Pujols when he bats, out of respect, but I boo the **** out of Beltran

7 years 119 million, and you strike out on three pitches in the biggest AB of your career.

Anybody else get the feeling watching the Cards celebrate winning the pennant like it's not that big a deal...like they didn't really deserve it. I mean an 83-78 team that backs into the playoffs after a 12-16 September, with an atrocious starting rotation and bullpen and holes throughout their lineup outside of Pujols gets to represent the NL in the World Series; pretty much because every other damn team in the league had just as many weaknesses. It's like there should be an asterisk next to this or something. It'd be a different story if they had these same weaknesses and caught fire and played likea dominant team, but I haven't seen that.

And I don't have a problem with the Cards per se...I was rooting for them in '04...or at least rooting for them to make it interesting. But it's just the way they did it this year...it's just sad that this team is going to the World Series to face a much more complete team in the Tigers. I'm gonna be sick if somehow they pull it off.

What you should feel badly about is our waiving Preston, not so much the Cards. Had we taken care of business against the Braves, we'd be in the playoffs. Had we kept Wilson, we'd be in the playoffs. The Cards practically gave it to us at the end.

Waiving Preston bugs me more than the Cards getting there. After all, their fans were very complimentary last year. Why can'y you?

Plus, I don't think Baby Beltran deserves to win anything ever again.

Thats my whole thing about this Card hating thing. There is a ton of mutual respect betwwen the Astros and Cards. We've battled them so many times, back and forth, it's like they are brothers or something like that. I expect the pattern to continue next yr with the Astros winning the pennant.

don't understand the pro-cards ppl here...

we are from houston. the cards are evil. get your priorities straight

beltran is not even worth my time...STL/jim edmonds/tony larussa are everything that is wrong in this world.

    'tis a sad day.

You talk to Cardinals fans... they're also mad that the Astros waived Preston Wilson (because otherwise they wouldn't have picked him up... they're not impressed).

Also, you keep Wilson... Luke Scott gets less AB's... can't think about it that way.

I'm happy the Cards won... I respect them... but much like Rockets-Spurs, our rivalry with them (which wasn't as heated as Rockets-Jazz) is something that I can't fully put aside for my disdain of a guy who went for the big payday.

Would you have played Wilson and his fantastic 0.243 batting average (w/ St. Louis) over Scott or Huff?

A nice compliment about Astros from Pujols. He is the ultimate Astro killer, but still a good guy.

God I can't wait till April.

So keeping Preston Wilson would have magically delivered us a playoff birth? Somehow I doubt that.... the guy has 1 rbi in the entire postseason. We could have really used that production down the stretch.

The Astros wouldn't have let him go if he actually...produced.

The national league really doesn't matter does it? AL is superior and the NL usually get swept anyways. Cards, mets, astros, whatever it doesn't really matter. Does anyone believe any national league team would stand a chance against the Tigers?

No, but we could've waited till the end of the season to waive him. He outright cost us two games playing for the Cards, whether they liked him or not.
