I have the same "feeling." Astros win tonight and win game six. Seems unlikely, but it is going to happen. Beltran and Berkman continue with crazy numbers. Stros are going to the Series in the Big Apple. Unbelievable!

    CRAP! :(

Yesterday Lidge was confident in his answer, saying of course he'd be ready. Now he seems pretty uncertain...

Time to unload the lumber and crank out 10 or 12 runs, and make Lidge a non-issue.
(hopefully... you never know with the Cards)

2 consecutive days is tough, especially considering he went 4 innings. Three consecutive would be fairly unprecedented. Even if he says he can go, I would try to avoid using him except in the most dire situation.

Hopefully the Astros will make the point moot and have an eight run lead when Backe leaves after the sixth. :)

Astros' Keys To Winning The Game

    1. Ump must give Brandon the outside corner.

    2. Start Mike Lamb.

    3. Biggio gets on base for Beltran, Scalibagz, and Fat Elvis.

I think if this happens, 1 WIN AWAY!!!!!!!!!

Even if he comes out and sucks who cares. He'll get a day off anyway. Who else do you throw out there. A kitchen sink. Smoltz would do it. Hershisher would do it. Lidge is gonna do it. God wants him on the mound.

Why do I hear that in the voice of Gene Hackman and Hoosiers?

    Colonel Lidge
Son, we live in a world that has pitching mounds. And those pitching mounds have to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Qualls? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Tavarez and you curse the Cards. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that Tavarez's pitch, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives...You don't want the truth. Because deep down, in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that pitching mound. You need me on that pitching mound.
We use words like honor, code, loyalty...we use these words as the backbone to a life spent defending something. You use 'em as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very pitching I provide, then questions the manner in which I provide it! I'd rather you just said thank you and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a bat and stand an on deck circle. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you're entitled to!

I won't believe either of you until:

    A) I see a source report either way or;
    B) he at least warms up in the pen or shows up in teh dugout with a cast or other protective covering on.

I have been begging for Lamb to get a start or two this series, I hope tonight he gets the nod. Although his defense is a liability, I suppose that is why he hasn't gotten a sniff so far

Biggio has got to get back on track

The MMP crowd is dying for Biggio to do something, everytime he came to bat last night, the crowd as chanting BIG-GI-O, BIG-GI-O!

btw, I was in sec 418 last night and it was the best experience I've ever had at a Houston sporting event in my life

Is Mike Lamb back with the team yet? I hope he gets back before the game tonight but I heard he was not coming in until sometimes today.

I'm scared about this game. For the Astros to win, I think they have to do it without Lidge. As previously stated, that means they'll have to score a ton of runs. The Astros do play better at home and Backe has pitched well in Houston lately, so they got that going for them. It's gonna be tough to get way out ahead of the Cardinals since they have such a good lineup.

Say the Astros win game 5 and Garner wisely uses Munro in 6 and Roger in game 7. Say it's a close game (possibly even going extra innings) and Garner brings Roy in for relief. I think that'd mess up the rotation for the World Series against the Yanks. I'm worried about that. Hopefully, it just goes smoothly and the 'Stros win tonight without Lidge and then we only use Roger. Hey, in a near-perfect world, the Astros win in 6 with Munro on the mound.

Win this series, whatever it takes, and worry about the World Series when you get there.

Thats why they give a warning...they never throw the guy out BEFORE a warning...otherwise what would the point of the warning be? Its a stupid rule regardless....I mean, he hits us on purpose (or so it seems), then the umps give a warning..so if we retaliate with some chin music, our guys get tossed and the a-hole who started it stays in the game.
