If thats the case, I think it is probably a front just to get his stupid ass out of the clubhouse. I wouldnt want him on my team either.
I'm just hoping that Lamb is in uniform tonight. If we lost last night's game, Ensberg's 7th inning GIDP with the bases loaded would have made him the goat. I think getting Lamb some more ABs would be a good thing regardless. I'm not sure why we haven't been pinch hitting late for Vizcaino. We've got a couple of good bats on the bench to utilize and an excellent defensive replacement in Everett.
IF Tavarez did break his hand, and is out, then thats a huge blow for the Cards and it leaves Calero as their best set up man. Tavarez, when on, is a nightmare for our hitters.
An Astros win in this series all depends on them being able to give Lidge the ball in the 8th with a lead. If they can do that, it's in the bag.
How I hope that is true. I don't know which was crazier... Tavarez being left in the game by the ump, or being left in the game by LaRussa. The guy was going insane, right in front of millions of people! And he's got great stuff. Be nice if he was unavailable for the next few games. I still can't believe they warned both teams, after what Mad Tavarez was doin'.
The fact that they warned both teams...then DIDN'T THROW HIM OUT of the game after hitting Kent was ridiculous
Col. Sandurz: Prepare ship for light speed! Dark Helmet: No, no, no, light speed is too slow! Col. Sandurz: Light speed, too slow?! Dark Helmet: Yes, we're gonna have to go right to . . . ludicrous speed! Col. Sandurz: Ludicrous speed?! Sir, we've never gone that fast before. I don't know if the ship can take it. Dark Helmet: What's the matter Colonel Sandurz? Chicken?
Stoops smoked that ball, Cards 2B was playing 3 steps from the bag. Them's the breaks sometimes. I now understand Leo Mazzone's nonstop spasms in the dugout, I've been catching myself doing the same thing. And my hands are sore from constant pounding on the bar/table. Yesterday in the 8th, RM95 announced to the table, "I just vomited in my mouth." The gf thinks I'm certifiably insane. There's a thousand things I need to get done but I just can't handle it right now. Houston sportsfans haven't seen anything like this in a decade. Enjoy it. Go Stros.
Whoever wins tonight wins the series, pivotal game, without question. Will Backe bring his best stuff; will Williams get hit hard? Yes, Astros 11 Cards 3.
Two local boys pitching tonight (Galveston is local ). I think they'll both do well in front of family and friends. In the late innings, Woody will grudgingly give the game over to the STL bullpen, who will promptly do their best impression of our bullpen and suck complete and total ass. Astros 6, Cardinals 3. WP: Backe, LP: Calero, S: Lidge
