This quote from "Airplane" sums up my Astros fan-hood lately. [as the plane prepares to take off] Hanging Lady : Nervous? Ted Striker : Yes. Hanging Lady : First time? Ted Striker : No, I've been nervous lots of times. Buddy Biancalana lives! Go Astros!!!
If you some of you guys have seen this then I apologize but read below: GO ASTROS!!!! Four Major League Baseball fans went rock climbing: a Yankee fan, a Red Sox fan, an Astros fan, and a Cardinals fan. They had been arguing all the way up the mountain about who amongst them loved their team more and was the most "diehard" fan. The argument grew hotter and hotter and the four fans grew more and more agitated. Such was the emotion that upon reaching the top of the mountain, the Yankee fan proclaimed loudly and earnestly to the other three, "This is for the New York Yankees!" and without a moments hesitation threw himself off the mountain. The supreme sacrifice! Not to be outdone by a Yankee fan, the Red Sox fan jumped up and cried out, "This is for the Boston Red Sox!" and quickly threw himself off the mountain, also willing to sacrifice himself to prove his devotion to his team. Refusing to be outdone by the Yankee and Red Sox fans, the Astros fan rose to his feet, summoned up every ounce of his courage, and yelled at the top of his lungs,! "This is for the Houston Astros!" and without a moment's hesitation, shoved the Cardinals fan off the mountain. GO ASTROS!!
lmao. man, even though i already said we're going to win the more i read this thread the more butterflies i get in my stomach as game time approaches. and i'm about to go to work real quick and hope no one is there so i can just come back and wait for the game.
I swear my digital clock just went backwards. This is utterly painful waiting for this game to start.
while everyone is out celebrating tonight, i just want to remind ppl to be safe. someone in boston died last night during their celebrations. represent the city well with respect and still have a lot of fun. be careful!
\ Seriusly save it, arnt u the guy who i had a long argument w/ about how this is a new team & they have a strong possiblity to win. but u kept dissing the **** outa them, saying they were gona chock and they sucked ect. I remember after we lost to the Cubs you wouldnt shutup about how we were gona loss the series and chock, i was PISSED. Well all i wana say is EAT CROW! GO 'STORS
Who was it who kept posting "Curse of the Billy Goat" on every game page as we were trying to stave off the Cubbies at the end of the season? Well, I'm busting this one out for tonight: Curse of Don Denkinger For those of you too young to remember 1985, here's the recap: A major-league umpire for 31 seasons, Denkinger is best remembered for being at the center of the most controversial play of the 1985 World Series. The St. Louis Cardinals led the Kansas City Royals in the Series 3-2 and were ahead in the ninth inning of the sixth game, 1-0. Denkinger called the Royals' Jorge Orta safe at first on a grounder to the Cardinals' Jack Clark, but TV replays showed that the throw to pitcher Todd Worrell had beaten Orta to the bag. Kansas City went on to rally for two runs, averting elimination, and the next day won the Series. I'm going to be away from the computer at the beginning of the game, so somebody keep this alive in the game thread for me. Whatever works!
I'm still trying to decide - go to the Rox preseason game (have tickets already) or watch the Astros game at home. I think I'm going to go to the game because I know they'll have the Stros on the tv. Also, I missed Game 5 but saw Game 6, so luck would say I should miss Game 7 if they are to win.
well, i also said we'd win game 5 of the atlanta series and we did. don't mess with my karma. or should i say "u dont mes wit my karrma" so you can understand.
We need to offensively jump all over the Cards early and take the crowd out of the game. Please Astros win!!!!! I don't have to deal with my wife gloating tonight.
