we just got outplayed....the cardinals played smart baseball...the suicide squeeze was perfect, they just outplayed us
I wouldn't go that far GATER In all honesty, we were expected to lose this series and we were down 2-0 to start. The Yanks on the other hand had home field and a 3-0 lead. It's much better to be an Astros fan today than a Yankees fan.
Well, after that fifth grade post I do know you're one who needs a growth chart for your immaturity level. Your online skin is waaaay to thin.
Well they got farther then I thought they would, but the loss still hurts. Hopefully Beltran will be back, hopefully Clemens will come back. If Biggio is back, it better be as a really cheap sub because it is time for Jason Lane to start. Time to say goodbye to Kent too. An upgrade at 3rd would be nice, but I won't get my hopes up. I will look forward to next year and a possible starting rotation of Oswalt, Clemens, Pettite, Miller and Backe with Lights Out to closer down. Til next year Stros. Go Rockets!
I have serious questions about making Garner the permanent manager. Having said that, I think we can still be quite good next year. While Miller and Pettite might not be "that great" as a previous poster said, we'd win 100 games this year if they were healthy. We'd probably win at least one of the games Munro and Backe lost in the LCS. I know Biggio's on the decline and so is Kent, but there will be production in other parts of the lineup. The key is signing Beltran, but I think making the World Series would've given us a better shot. If we sign him, though, I really like our team next year.
In other news, Astros fans will go to court on Monday to seek class action status against Dan Micelli for intentional infliction of emotion distress, gross negligence, and fraud for pretending to be a real pitcher. Proceeds of the suit will be donated to the Save Beltran fund.
I know there is a lot of hatred toward garner. I agree he made some moves that made think what was he doing. but garner was not the one at the plate looking like little league. I mean Berkman had men on second and third last night in the top of the ninth, if he gets a hit there we are not even having this discussion. There were simply just a lot of what ifs. I still respect the Astros for turning the season around instead of just lying down like so many people in the national media thought they would.
outside of deciding when to take out the starter, that's pretty much the only thing a baseball manager has to know to do (except apparently tell the defense to play as far from the middle as possible (no i well never let that die, i may randomly bring it up during rockets game threads)) and garner messes it up all the damn time. and he messed up the whole bullpen thing to. the more i think about it, the more i wanted oswalt. but that's too much hindsight so i won't get too made about that. the double switch thing though, terrible.
Exactly. No matter what happens to this team in the offseason, thank you VERY MUCH for the memories you brought to non-casual Astro fan this year. What a great ride.
these past 2 months have been so memorable...everyday looking forward to the 7:05 starts and our insurmountable climb into the playoffs. now that we've been eliminated there's going to be a huge void in my life now...no more looking forward to roger and roy-o pitching or just rooting for the astros in general... well thanks for the ride...it was a great 2 months
I'm not sold on Garner. What he did was basically let the team coach itself to the playoffs. You can do that with a veteran team. He'll probably get the chance to come back next year though anyway. Personally, I wish they would turn the team over to Cruz. Maybe he could work some magic like Rudy T did for the Rockets. Rudy was my favorite Rocket as a kid and Cruz was my favorite Astro.
