So many what ifs....I hold Garner responsible for putting in Miceli in Game 6.

Well, if Miller and Pettite get healthy, Clemens resigns, we'll have a pretty good rotation next year with the addition of Backe. I think he's really shown that he has good stuff and with a full year of development can turn into something pretty good.

If by some miracle we can find a way to resign Beltran, I think we'll be looking pretty good next year.

nick .. we had troubles with our pitchers.. and if we lost because of them then I'd be more okay..

it just seems like our batters didnt' do jack all summer long.. wish they woudl have done waht they did first and last month rest of summer..

I try to be happy with this season.. its just tough.. because we arent a building team or anything.. we're a team that is at our peak.....

For once I agree with the yankee fans.. the only thing that matters in the end is championships.. and once again we all short

Thanks for a sh***y birthday, Astros. :)

Well, it was a hell of a ride. Thanks for the memories, Stros! Bravo on turning around your season. You guys rocked! I'll be back to cheer you on next year, as I always do. Chin up. You made Houston proud.

As for me? I'm going to bed. I'm pretty sure I made myself sick during this game, as I now have a fever. Just call me a casualty of Houston sports. :)

Tonight, I'm going to cry myself to sleep, much like I did in 1986, when I was 9. Goodnight, folks.

I have but one small request for the Red Sox: Please hit Julian Tavarez in the nuts with a baseball as hard as humanly possible. That is all.

Don't think so. Next time we make it to the playoffs people will remember October of 04' and want to catch a ride on the Astros bandwagon once again. These Astros were an inspiration, not an underperforming heart breaker or anything negative to cause fans to leave. The casual fan is a casual fan for a reason:)

Miller and Pettite are not that great. Certainly better than Munro or Hernandez but you can't pin your hopes on guys like these. The offense will be much weaker with Burke or Chokejob Biggio at 2nd base. Beltran won't resign with a cursed team and lousy Ausmus will again be behind the plate.

You can't blame anyone except the Bagwell/Biggio era of bad karma.

On the positive, Backe looked fantastic and will be the best 5th starter in baseball.

Im worried about Oswalt. His stuff was not up to par because of his injury.

Wade Miller will also be a big mystery.

Most importantly, we should sue Dan Micelli for $100 million for gross negligence and use it to pay Beltran.

Not I. I'm not b/c I am pist, bitter, and a homer. I just can't watch any other team but a Houston team.

    Go Astros!

two chances to win and we don't.

we friggin' lost the clemens vs suppan battle. how the hell does that happen. 4 ER vs 1 ER. just awesome.

can't believe clemens through that pitch to rolen. when you're mad the last thing you do is try to throw a fastball as hard as you can down the middle.

oswalt did the exact same thing in september and rolen crushed a homer off of him (or was that clemens also?).

clemens never lost to a NL team in the playoffs, over. only 3 series ever where the home team won all the games, happens again somehow.

two friggin' games to win and we lose both. what, 1-8 in elimination games now? the anti-Rockets.

i've gotten so used to getting home each day and getting amped for playoff games. this is gonna suck now.

but i still want the cards to win to continue the curse.

This run reminds me a lot of the Rockets run in 92-93... where they got to within one game of the WCF, and lost to Seattle in OT.

Granted, we may not have a budding Hakeem in his prime, but we still ended up performing very well on a big stage... and just came within a fraction of beating the better team.

It definitely served the Rockets well in the next two playoffs... and this experience will serve this club as well. It might be too late for Baggy and Biggio... but not for Berkman, Oswalt, Lidge, and Beltran (hopefully).

Absolutely. Garner does not get the double-switch at all. He got exactly one extra spot in the batting order by removing Biggio, who was the last out of the inning. What is up with that?

And removing Berkman on a double-switch? WTF? You don't ditch one of your top 4 just for the sake of saving a spot in the order.

as much as i want to be the bigger man and how this board has been the bigger man, i can't find it in my stomach to feel good about this season. yes we were left for dead and we came back and to make it this far is something none of us ever thought would happen but the facts are we did make it this far and losing it so close hurts so much. :(

this city was so ready to party and now all we're left with is heartbreak and thousands of lcs championship t-shirts that will never be sold or worn :(
