I always said I'd be proud of them no matter what... especially after they got to 90 wins (which is what I expected from them). Then, you kinda want them to beat the Braves...for once.... and they did. Nothing could have topped that. This series has been very easily matched, and we're giving the "best team in baseball" one of the best series ever. No way am I going to be dissapointed after it, no matter what happens.
Get a grip. If there's one team I would absolutely root for in the WS when my team isn't in it, it's a classy organization like the Cards.
jeff.. what they did the last month just frustrated me more.. they did that the first month too.. and I just think.. what the heck were they doing ALL summer....
If we won game 6 in 86 it was over because Mike Scott wouldve pitched. In 81, Nolan Ryan up by 3 against the Phillies in the 9th inning.
And that my friends... is it..... this series was ours to lose and thats EXACTLY what the Astros did...same old story. (my hope for a rally is on life support)
I want to go back to that Edmonds leaping catch in the 2nd, that ****ed us bad. that cost us two runs there.
nick.. the fact that they were supposed to be the best team coming into season.. played like it first month and last month.. doesnt make you upset that they slacked off the rest of summer?
and that's part of the problem. the "it's his game to lose" thing. this is game 7, not the middle of the regular season. everybody's equal now especially with oswalt waiting. again, i'm not even saying i take him out but he wasn't even warming up. what were we waiting for? when does oswalt think about coming in. after the damage or to limit the damage? again, why have oswalt if you're just going to let clemens pitch out of all trouble. i do that if miceli is my only choice. a fresh oswalt versus tired clemens vs pujols is really the only time you make the move. but oh well, maybe i don't either. things just aren't going our way today.
True, but I have to say that 1986 felt a lot worse than this one (assuming we lose). We would have had Scott on the mound in Game 7 in 1986 and Mike Scott that year was nothing short of amazing. Clemens in 2004 is nowhere near Scott in 1986.
ITS NOT OVER YET!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I KNOW IT DOESNT LOOK GOOD BUT ID TAKE THIS OVER BEING OUT OF THE PLAYOFFS,,,,,,,,,,,
I'm 51 years old. Been there to watch the '80 Greg Gross sodomy. Saw the Mets' coitus interruptus. Hoped I'd see us get another chance to go to the Series. But I just can't stand to see us go down so anemically in these two games. Any offense last night or tonight and we're there. DAMN IT! How many more years before we get here again?
I'll take Clemens on 4 days rest with only 70 pitches over Oswalt and his dead arm coming outta the bullpen every single time.
ROY OSWALT, WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO US!?!? WHY DO THE BATTERS HAVE TO CHOKE LIKE ALWAYS. DAMN ITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Astors bats alwaays seem to disappear when they need them most. One of only six franchises never to reach the Series continues, unfortunately.
