    A hitter is more likely to hit the ball to the big spaces on either side of the base, rather than hit it in the small space up the middle.

    Additionally, our guys just aren't that fast. We will position up the middle to some batters, but Edmonds is a dead-pull hitter.

    Its probably why his pitch count is much lower than normal... he's making them put it in play, and so far its worked.

    yes, except when we hit it up the middle like that teams get it a large percentage of the time. balls straight up the middle teams don't get but that ball edmonds hit was off to the side and not a screamer. anyone gets that against us.


    and even with womack's speed kent couldn't have gotten that. it's happened far too many times in my mind not to be a trend and not a coincidence or just about speed. it happens way too often.

    there we were way more up the middle than normal finally. this time it was just hit too hard for once.
