the only thing roger hasn't accomplished is winning a champ for his hometown.. and a perfect game/no hitter.. he might as well take care of both of those in the next week or so
Hey it worked before.... Clemens goes 7 strong innings and gives up two, the ever popular inanimate carbon rod takes the mound for the 8th as an ominous hush falls over the crowd. Pitching on three days rest and with a devastating cut fastball the inanimate carbon rod strikes out Pujols whose bat flys into the bullpen smacking Dan Micelli in the head. Micelli is so traumatized by the event he becomes delusional and starts believeing he's a major league pitcher. He runs into the game in the ninth and strikes out the side sending the Stros to the Series!!!!
Jeff Suppan has faced the Astros 6 times this year, and has lost 5 times. In 4 of those contests, he's faced Clemens, and lost every time. Roger, meanwhile, has faced the Cards 5 times without a loss. I'm confident. In a game that means everything, there's no pitcher I'd want on the mound more than the Rocket. Nobody. Astros in the World Series, 2004. It's destiny.
Good luck Stros! Not really a fan of either team but would love to see Clemens get a shot at the Red Sox in the Series!
just stopping by to give off some good karma forget yesterday, today is a new day with our 2 aces in our pocket and the greatest closer of this postseason waiting in the wings. we just gotta score some run early, a must. go stros
I'm not one for predicting scores, but I will predict the above. Only thing there that might not happen is the save because tonight probably won't be a save situation.
there's a lot of drop the hammer talk on the front page that sounds like something you'd write. i freaking love it!
All I have to say is this is Roger Clemen's goal. He said he wanted to bring a championship to Houston. First, we have to get to the World Series and he can make it happen. He has a chance to deliver on his goal and make his place in Houston history in the most decisive Houston Astros playoff game to date. Our team says they play better when Roger is pitching. Now is the time to prove that. Let's do this thing!
he'll either pitch a gem or blowup. here's hoping for a gem. what's up with taking berkman out last night?
he was the last to bat the half-inning before lidge took the mound...they gave that spot in the lineup to lidge so they could keep him out there longer.
Anyone care to summarize Rob Neyers article about the game today? Not asking for the full text, just the general points he's making.
